In two weeks we had two boxes and both times ingredients in the box were damaged. Soy sauce smothered everything int he box the first time around. Second time it was the cream that was crushed inside and went all over meat and veg. More than half of the items had to be thrown away and customer service has only given me £5 off of the the whole order. It’s a joke. So I’ve cancelled my order for good and won’t be going back to them.

I stopped using them. This review is for Manhattan. I used to buy nearly all of my groceries from them, but it took me about a year to realize I was getting sick from their perishable food. Nothing smelled bad, but when I started writing down everything I ate and any symptoms I had, it was clear their perishables were making me sick. When I stopped ordering, I felt fine. It was mostly dairy like milk, yogurt, cheese. I could eat these same things from other grocery stores with no problem (same brands and everything). Usually these foods didn't smell or taste bad, but I noticed they did spoil faster than normal. Later on, I found they did in fact taste bad the same day they were delivered. It was very frustrating to take a large order of groceries and have to spend the energy to dump all the milk down the drain, throw out the yogurt (wash all the containers which I have to do in my city), haul down a big bag of trash down the stairs, etc. It made me realize I did not want to risk this happening ever again. I let Fresh Direct know, and they gave me a coupon, but I told them I can never again use them for perishables. I also found the prices aren't great, so I very rarely have a reason to order from them. If here is something non-perishable that I don't feel like carrying up the stairs, like a few bottles of vinegar, I might order. But it's pretty silly they can't find a way to keep their food from going bad before delivering it. I don't understand how they could allow the food to spoil before delivering it. This happened during the winter also, where even leaving it in the truck too long should have been ok. I wonder if the employees were packing orders many hours before delivery so they could pack everything at once and then not have to do anything all day, which would mean perishables sitting out all day? I just can't think of any other reason, because they said their trucks are refrigerated, and it was winter so even if products were sitting out on the sidewalk for hours they'd be cold still.

Last evening, I called customer service for additional information on portion sizes of some dishes that I wanted to order for a family that is transitioning one of their loved ones through hospice. I was admonished by the customer service representative who told me that the information that I requested is available online. I advised her that if this was the case, I would not be placing this call. She took a moment to review an example that I gave, the eggplant parmigiana, and sheepishly admitted that the information does not exist on their website. She asked to put me on hold to confer with someone within the company. I was on hold for over 10 minutes and then I was suddenly connected to their customer satisfaction survey. I called again today in an attempt to place an order. When I began relating my previous experience, without any further discussion or warning, a person named "Johnson" transferred me to the same customer service survey. I called back immediately to request to speak with a supervisor and spoke to a person who identified herself as "Lindsay." She appeared to find a supervisor with whom I could speak, but there was "no one available." This is so disappointing. I wanted to order meals for a friend of over 40 years who is currently ushering her only sibling through his end-of-life transition. I am so offended at their poor response, that I will FOREVER lambaste them.

AWFUL!! Cancelled my delivery on a Monday after saying it will be two hours late then they say the only day to have it delivered is that Friday. That Friday night after my delivery was supposed to come and customer service says "5 minutes" twice. They CANCEL my order for a second time!!! AWFUL service and treat their customers poorly. ZERO if I could.

Horrible service -- Delivery times not honored -- They don't answer the phone -- they don't accept text messages -- order can't be canceled even if it wasn't delivered on time.

I had to cancel my membership with Freshdirect today, because of the incompetence and lies put forth by their employees, the weekly produce, which is usually rotten, items that are usually left out of my order, the delivery man who can't read simple delivery directions and managers that never call to follow-up. In addition, not one manager tried to save my account, what a bunch of flakes!!! GOOD RIDDANCE!!

Fresh direct has been wonderful! I have used this service for years and it has been generally reliable.
