I placed an order on June 18th. I waited patiently checking the online status which continued to say order is in process shipping soon. I needed the piece for a remodel. When I finally received an email over 40 days after the order date telling me the order was on backorder and would ship sometime in mid-August I called to cancel because it would arrive too late. I was told that I was past the initial cancellation period of I think was 10 days from order. I explained that I would not have ever ordered it if I had known it was on backorder. Was told I had to email customer service to further respond which I did. After a slow reply back to me which only repeated their cancellation policy I argued my point further with customer service and also registered a dispute with my credit card company. Finally, customer service from F&S emailed that although against their policy I would be credited back my over $2,000 charge minus 10% which they would keep for the order process. I would proceed with GREAT CAUTION in doing business with this company. Lack of transparency with the order, very poor systems and customer service are in place. By the way I found the same piece of furniture on multiple other sites including Wayfair that could ship immediately so shop around and know who you are purchasing from!

DO NOT BUY! SCAM!
Ordered a product they said was in stock on 7/25. Received an email that it had shipped and would be delivered on 8/9. On the 5th I received another email that the product did not make it on the delivery truck and it would be put it on the next truck. Then I heard nothing for days. So reached out to customer service and was told "oh sorry the product is not up to our standards and that was the last one" we don't know when it will be back in stock so we will give you a refund. Now a week later and I have not received a refund. I reached back out to customer service and they told me my refund was already processed. But no email confirmation of that and no refund has posted to my credit card. I had to contact my credit card company to get my money back. Don't buy from this company! They are a scam!

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience of the out of stock item and the shipping communication that resulted from the error. We thought we had the item and arranged for the delivery based on the information, but only discovered the error after our delivery company attempted to take and deliver the item. We tried to search additional times for the last piece that our inventory said we had, but we were not successful. We have since refunded your money and we hope that the inconvenience wasn't too bad. We will do our best to improve inventory accuracy and communication in the future. We're sorry that we let you down.

Please Order from a Different Company
On April 8 and 9, 2022 I placed an order with France & Son for seven pieces of furniture – four chairs, a wooden screen, a dining table, and a sofa. I had previously ordered all the same pieces from a different online retailer (Burke Decor) but canceled my order and placed with France & Son because they promised me delivery within 4-6 weeks. Not a single item I purchased arrived within the promised delivery window. Four of the items were severely damaged. While my family and I empathize with the challenges presented by global supply chain shortages, France & Son’s lack of communication and professionalism has felt unfair, and at times, deceptive. After countless calls, emails, and much wasted time on my part, as well as one extremely rude sales manager (kirchsales), France & Son is threatening to withhold ~$1000 of my funds, for which I already signed a refund agreement.
Here is a breakdown of France & Son’s actions to date:
Two Laredo Chairs – Delivered on June 14, 2022 with additional delivery charges ($199). Chairs were damaged—paint scuffs and tattered raffia. I filed a claim the same day and was offered 10% off the sales price. France & Son did not pay me under my damage claim until October 5, 2022—four months after the claim was filed.
Haru Screen – Delivered on July 7, 2022 with additional delivery charges. In addition to delayed delivery, the screen was very damaged—wood chipped in several places. France & Son refused to collect delivery of the screen and offered me only a 25% discount. All claims were filed promptly. France & Son did not pay me under my damage claim until December 6, 2022—a full seven months after the claim was filed. This was only after countless follow-ups on my part and in contravention of their own policy that all refunds are processed within 10-14 business days.
Dylan Sofa – Delivered August 23, 2022. Three months outside of estimated delivery window. Was told several times, including in writing, that the sofa was in stock and would arrive within the delivery window by late May 2022.
Parra Dining Table – Delivered February 8, 2023. Was told several times, including in writing, that the table would arrive within the delivery window by early May 2022. In fact, it was delivered nine months outside of the delivery window after countless calls from me. At no point was customer service apologetic about the extreme delay and I was in no way compensated for the delay (or any other delays). All of this despite the fact that France & Son charged my credit card for the items on the day of purchase and not the day of shipping. Again, accounting for supply chain difficulties, this behavior is egregious and calls into question the credibility (and liquidity) of the operation.
Two Kamara Arm Chairs, The Open Issue – Delivered August 23, 2022, well outside the delivery window. We barely used either chair as we had still not received our dining table/the majority of our living room furniture. In February 2023, a few days after finally receiving the dining table, I sat in one chair and it broke immediately. We reached out to France & Son on the same day on February 12, 2023. After several months of following-up, France & Son agreed to pick up the chair and provide us with a refund so long as I agreed that “all communication regarding my order is private and [that I] will not publish it or refer to my case in any open forum.” Given that I had a completely unusable chair, I signed the agreement on June 14, 2023. The chair was picked-up on June 28, 2023 and I replaced it (at considerable cost) a few days later. At no point did France & Son offer to replace or repair the chair, even though it was well within a year of its delivery date. After coercing me to sign the aforementioned document and picking up the chair from me, France & Son is now refusing to refund me, claiming the chair is well outside its warranty period. I understand the manufacturer’s warranty for most furniture is within a year of delivery. Again, I contacted the company about the damage in February so I do not understand this line of reasoning. France & Son wants to return the damaged chair to me, for which I have absolutely no use. If France & Son had been upfront that they were not able to refund me for the damaged chair, I could have at least tried to repair it myself and not have the additional outlay of the replacement chair.
Given all the headaches and heartache France & Son has put me through, all I want is the promised refund for the chair they continue to have in their possession. I also intend to share my experience with TrustPilot and the consumer protection agencies in NY and DC, given I don’t think any customers should be treated as we have.

Shady Dealers
We ordered a chair in early June for around $1000. After about a month, they emailed us and said they couldn't fulfill the order unless we bought another $1500 worth of merchandise! We canceled the order, and it took three weeks and three phone calls to get our refund. Looks like we're not the only ones to have them pull this trick. Really shady.
Response from France and SonAug 14, 2023
We sincerely apologize for your negative experience. At the time of your purchase our shipping policies required certain minimums when shipping to some locations. You were in one of those limited locations. We have been trying to find effective ways to share this information with our customers, and we understand it can be inconvenient. We give all customer in these regions the option to cancel or increase the order size, and all we needed was a confirmation of what option you want to proceed with. We explain these details in our shipping policies, but we're sorry that it wasn't made more clear before you checked out. We have since made some adjustment to our shipping policies and website that should improve the UX, but we're sorry that you have a negative experience as a result of the previous ways.

NO ACCOUNTABILITY
I purchase two chairs and two nightstands in sept of 2021. Receiving the items took forever. After multiple emails, phone calls and hours wasted, I finally received the items in January of 2022. One year later, one of the chairs that was over $1000, split at the joint. I contacted customer service and they had me fill out a form, complete with pictures, receipts and videos of the damage. The claim was denied because they evidently have a 3 DAY AFTER PURCHASE claim requirement. Which means , after 3 days they do not offer any sort of product assurance. For a $1000 chair to last a year is absurd and their customer service is hard to reach, passive and negligent.
Response from France and SonAug 10, 2023
We are terribly sorry about the way that your product held up. Usually, after the standard claim window expires, the manufacturer's warranty takes over. In this case this was past the manufacturer's 1 year window; however, we were able to get you some compensation. We hope that this compensation helped to make things right.

Do not buy from France & Son
Buying from this online store is an absolute waste of time, I bought a Thonton pendant lamp on closeout sale for $29 including free shipping. The listing says it is a Quickship item but actually took a lot longer and when I finally got a FedEx tracking it again was stuck at shipping label was created for several days. When the FedEx tracking started moving, I noticed the dreaded Direct Signature Required. I tried contacting F&S to remove that requirement for a $29 purchase ut ended up like talking to a wall & got no specific response about that issue. I also tried to get around the signature issue through FedEx & was also unsuccessful with not many options given but to be at home when the package arrives. I will not take the time off from work to wait for FedEx all day to deliver a $29 lamp. I will not take a few hours from work so I can chase around a $29 lamp to pick it up from FedEx either. I buy stuff online because of the convenience of having the stuff I bought delivered on my door step. I have not had a single issue of packages getting stolen so I don't think that is the reason why I got a direct signature required from F&S & Fedex. I don't have people or staff that I could ask to wait around to stay at home all day to receive packages either. I don't know what will happen to this package, it will probably get sent back to F&S and I don't know if I will get my money back.
Update 07/20/2023
Fedex when I asked in the beginning as an option will not let me change the delivery address to my work address but when I went online to manage the delivery, FedEx allowed me to do the change for a ransom fee. The package was redelivered today but FedEx never asked for a signature from anyone and just left the package, so I don't get France & Son direct signature requirement for a $29 purchase. France & Son turned this order into a nightmare and when I opened the package, it contained a damaged/returned version of the lamp I ordered, bent out of place all over. This company made it look like they are sending me an opulent high end expensive item requiring a direct signature but instead received the total junk version. Don't waste your money and your time with this company, total scam!
Response from France and SonJul 21, 2023
We sincerely apologize that your lamp got damaged in transit. As you know, this was the last item of its kind, and that's why it was on closeout sale for only $29 (free shipping). We did our best to pack the item, but we regret that it was damaged and caused your this inconvenience. We reviewed the images that you sent us, and it looks like the box was full of holes and really beat up, and the item was sadly damaged as a result of that. We feel that you are mad at us for trying to do the right thing, which is a bit unfair. We protect the deliveries with required signatures, because we had a lot of recent thefts, and we pay extra money for this service, so our customers don't get robbed. You are the only one so far to complain about this, and we will take that into consideration when adjusting the policy to not require signatures on less expensive deliveries. We hope you can understand that this situation was unfortunate, and the signature was required with your best interest in mind.

Scam website
I placed an order with these folks for a fairly expensive peice of furniture. After several weeks they emailed me stating that they would not fulfill the order unless I spend more money (table was $2000). I declined and they decided to cancel my order. They said to expect my refund it 14 days. After 14 days the refund was not processed. I contacted them and they stated it was processed (I confirmed with credit card company that this was not true). Another 14 days went by and still no refund. I contacted them again and they said they would look into it. After another week still no refund. I finally issued a chargeback for fraud and the credit card sided with me and refunded my purchase. These folks tried to wait me out and see if they could steal my money. They are criminals and thrives. Do not give them money. The whole operation is a scam to get you to spend money the not refund after a extended wait. I don't think they actually ship product, it's just a predatory front page preying on online shoppers avoid at all cost.

We are truly sorry about the slow refund for your order. Your order had a shipping location that was out of our range, which we explain in our shipping policies. We have since improved the website to prevent such orders from being entered without the added shipping fees, but we had a technical limitation at the time of your order, and we apologize. Regarding the refund, we are sorry that the refund took longer than expected to process. You money has since been returned to you.

Wow what a scam of a business!
Update to company response: you say you gave me the option to cancel?? FALSE. my card has been charged. I have called numerous times to cancel and ask for a refund. And your customer service representatives keep telling me they have to wait for the manufacturer to cancel. You guys have not refunded me!!! That’s a lie! Please refund me.
Wow what a scam of a business!! I bought a mirror for $1400 about two weeks ago and they keep sending me emails saying they can’t ship it ( even tho my card has been charged) until I add more items to the order. They sent me 3 emails asking if I would like to add more items. When I call they said I have to have a minimum of $3500 order for it to be shipped out. Then why process my original order?? Why charge my card? i have called the company 3 times and they said they have to “ call headquarters to process the refund” it’s been 10 days and no update.

We're truly sorry that we can't ship your product to you. Our shipping terms explain that our shipping region doesn't include Nevada, and that we may require minimums to ship there. We let you know that you were out of the service area shortly after your purchase, and we offered you the option to cancel or increase your shipment size.
