Worst Customer Experience I Have Ever Encountered
This is the worst customer experience my husband and I have ever encountered. We ordered a king sized bed from France & Son. We had two issues: (1) the box arrived visibly damaged; and (2) the delivery company could not get the box into our condo in the city because the box was too large. We reported these two issues in real time. France & Son would not allow us to refuse delivery, and informed us that if we did so, they would only offer us a partial refund. The bed was $2500 -- the refund would be only for $1500, and we would need to take a $1000 penalty. We told them that we were happy to take a credit, we just want a non-damaged bed that could be delivered into our home. They refused. We were on the phone with France & Son for over 1.5 hours, with the delivery guy sitting outside, and at the end, had no choice but to accept the delivery because we could not take a $1,000 hit. Keep in mind this is a bed their own delivery people could not get into our house. We told them they cannot just leave the boxes curbside because we live in the city and things get stolen. The customer service team would not help, even though we begged them to rectify the situation. We were effectively being held hostage at this point -- either take the boxes as is (with visible damage on the outside) or return the boxes with a $1k penalty. To drive home the hostage point regarding the $1k penalty, F&S immediately sent us a DocuSign statement that asked us to waive all our rights. Needless to say, we refused to sign those documents. We finally had to hire two movers to bring the bed inside, which they did. When we opened the package, there were indeed two damaged areas on the bed frame. I have contacted France & Son to see if they can rectify but I am not hopeful. This was an awful and anxiety inducing experience -- I hope they do right by their customers. UPDATE: Upon filing a claim with F&S, I received an email that they would offer a 10% discount. This is insufficient for the amount of pain and time both my husband and I have spent dealing with this issue, putting aside the actual damage. I have not even reviewed the lead up experience -- we ordered the bed on July 1, 2022. We received no communications about the bed status, and I had to call repeatedly to get an update. This continues to be a nightmare scenario. Literally, all we asked for was someone to work with us to make an awful situation work, and they flatly refused. I have since read the many reviews on Trust Pilot about this company. Had I know about Trust Pilot before, I never would have engaged in business with F&S, as this type of awful customer service seems to be routine for them.
Response from France and SonSep 13, 2022
We're sorry that you are still frustrated with the situation, and our team is continuing to work with you to resolve this and make it right. We understand that receiving a damaged item that you've waited a long time for can be very inconvenient, and it takes our team time to find and offer resolutions. It's only been a day since the delivery was made, and we're doing our best to offer solutions and work with you. I see that the 10% offered was not enough. We want to come to an agreeable resolution and we'll continue working with you.
