I’ve flown with FlyNYON before, and this experience confirmed my concerns—it feels like they’re constantly trying to upcharge. From the moment we walked in, the front desk girl was rude. No greeting, no professionalism—just “you have a flight, what time?” right off the bat. A couple years ago, I arrived early and was told I had to pay an extra $200 just to “guarantee” a side door seat. This time, I arrived at 7:20 for an 8:20 flight and was told we were “late” and had to upgrade to a 30-minute flight. The price jumped from the $75 base to $250, then suddenly he said he’d “do me a favor” and make it $100. That alone felt like a scam. When I pushed back, the story kept changing—suddenly we could still take the original flight. We even had time to watch the safety video and get fully set up for the 8:20, which proves we weren’t late at all. It honestly felt like they were making things up to get more money, possibly because they didn’t have enough people for the shorter flight. On top of that, the experience itself was uncomfortable. I’m 5’11 and my date is 6’2, and we were both placed in a way where we couldn’t even enjoy the “feet out” experience. Meanwhile, another couple was able to switch seats last minute with no issue, which shows the seating rules aren’t consistent at all—the pilot even said it doesn’t really matter where you sit. Overall, between the rude staff, constant upselling, and disorganization, it felt very misleading. Definitely not the experience they advertise.

The experience certainly comes at a price, but it’s well worth it! Flying over NYC at night with the doors open and your feet and legs hanging out of the helicopter is an unforgettable experience that ranks right in my top 10 best experiences ever. It’s a mix of adrenaline and amazement! There’s no sense of insecurity—safety on board is taken very seriously. Phones are secured and connected to you via a harness.
