Rude Breeze employee at SNA airport
On September 11 at approximately 1:27 PM, my wife and I approached Breeze Gate 16 at SNA to ask if we could move from our 5 PM flight to Provo to the earlier flight. The gate attendant, Darren, told us, “No, it’s already closed,” in a very short and dismissive tone. When I asked if the flight was full, he responded, “No, but that doesn’t matter. It’s already closed.” I asked when the flight normally closes and he said 45 minutes before departure. We were approximately 42 minutes before departure, so I completely understand that we were three minutes past the cutoff. My complaint is not that Darren wouldn’t put us on the flight. If that is Breeze policy, that’s fine. The problem was his attitude and the way he spoke to us. When I asked if there was anyone he could check with, he abruptly said, “No!” I then pointed to the kiosk and asked about a 3:16 PM flight. Darren responded sarcastically, “That’s Allegiant. Would you like to book a flight with Allegiant?” That comment was completely unnecessary. I even told him at the time, “Wow, that was pretty sarcastic,” and asked for his name. We’ve generally had good experiences with Breeze, which made this interaction particularly disappointing. We weren’t asking Darren to break a rule—we were asking reasonable questions about our travel options. He could have given us exactly the same answers professionally and courteously. Breeze should expect better customer service from an employee representing the airline at the gate.
