Karl
Clueless outside of Marty
Marty was the only person I dealt with who actually took the time to look into my situation and provide accurate information. My interactions with the front desk employee and George were the complete opposite. After my car was towed here because it broke down, Marty called to let me know they weren't able to perform the repairs and that I would need to have the vehicle towed elsewhere. Later, I called to let them know the tow truck was on its way and asked them to give the driver my keys. The front desk employee told me he couldn't release the keys because I had an outstanding balance and that they couldn't take payment over the phone. He then transferred me to George, who repeated the same information without taking the time to verify my account or address what I was explaining. I was told I needed to leave work immediately, come to the shop in person, pay the bill, and retrieve my keys before the tow truck could take the vehicle. I work in NYC, so this meant leaving work unexpectedly and paying for an expensive Uber. When I arrived, I discovered they had been looking at the wrong vehicle the entire time. Marty confirmed that I didn't owe anything and that there was never any reason for me to come in. I simply picked up my keys and left. Mistakes happen, but what made this experience so frustrating was the lack of communication and the refusal to verify basic information before insisting I interrupt my workday and spend money unnecessarily. As the manager, I would have expected George to verify the information before weighing in. Instead, I felt he spoke at me rather than with me, and his involvement only added to the frustration. If Marty hadn't taken the time to look into the situation, it would have been even more frustrating.
