The system ....
Through different psychology search engines, I've come across many, many therapists that are booked through Octave. I have yet to actually book with one of the therapists because they give you so many options and so few details. Most therapists list multiple modalities and multiple specialties, which they may have. But how long have they been treating those specialties or utilizing those modalities, or are certified in those modalities is unknown. When sending emails to clarify details, you are routed to a virtual booking assistant who can't really answer any of the questions but presses you for booking with basically any therapist that they can get you to book with based on a few very basic questions. It just feels like they're throwing something against the wall to see if it will stick. As someone who has been through that process multiple times it sucks. I have experienced the fatigue, and seen others give up on therapy because of the difficulty finding a good fit versus the easiest thing that gets the referring company a commission. Hopefully one day, there is a better way. For those of you out there seeking help, don't give up. I will sometimes hone in on a handful and see which ones I can find on linked in that are responsive. It's the system, not the therapists.
