I am a seller and I rate 1 star for closing my store without warning - after years of excellent service - only because of issues with proving my identty
UPDATE: No luck, Fastspring said the decision is final. Writing this review in hope it gets Fastspring's attention at a higher level. You gave excellent service all the way through until you closed my store because of issues with proving my identity - my last question to you was what to do because my passport is out of date and you responded by saying that because I took too long, you were going to close down my store. It did take a long time. From Jan 2024 through to Feb 2026 because of holdups on my side, My reason for the 1 star rating is that until you closed down my store because of an out-of-date passport, you never told me I had to complete the process by a particular date. The support rep told me I'd been given multiple warnings that my store would be closed down if it takes too long. But I found NO WARNINGS that it could be closed down in any of my correspondence. Even the support ticket that told me they will close down the store didn't warn me first. Their final email told me I was too late but gave no date I had missed either. I asked your support rep what the end date was that I missed, and they didn't respond to that question. So - you may have had a date on your side, and may have intended to warn me, but you never communicated this to me. That is the reason for the 1 star. In my feedback to you I said: FEEDBACK: You should warn your sellers that if they don't complete the process of proving their identity by a certain date, you will close down their store rather than close the store for a late response without any warning that this can happen IN DETAIL I am a seller and I had excellent service all the time I was with Fastspring unitl Jan 2024 when they put my store into testing mode just because I missed an email asking me to prove my identity. When a customer told me that they couldn't buy my product, I contacted them, and they restored my store to give me time to prove my identity. But I am now retired and work as a volunteer fact checker who is no longer developing software and is very caught up with other things. I wasn't able to prove my identity right away because of a damaged sim card as I needed to use my mobile phone to complete it. That's my first support ticket, opened 1/26/2024. When I got the replacement SIM card, I forgot to go through with the Fastpsring process. In Feb 2025, they paused the store again, as far as I can tell, without a warning email. I didn't notice until Nov or Dec. 2025. On December 8 2025, I got a reply to my support ticket saying I need to complete the process again, which I didn't understand, as I couldn't see where to provide the verification information. On December 20 they told me I need to provide a UTR and provided a link to complete the process, which they said was the same link as for Jan 2024. Finally, I did go to the link to provide the UTR, but then I was asked to provide a photo ID. I have my passport, but the form wouldn't accept it because it was out of date. So I asked if I needed to renew my passport to complete the process. At that point, the support rep didn't answer my passport question but just told me that they would close my account because the process had taken too long. But they never in the entire process, told me that if it took too long, they would close my account. They never gave me a date I had to complete it by either. In my last email to them I asked them what the date was that I missed that I had to complete the process by and got no reply to that email. The process was also very difficult for someone who has a busy life of his own as a voluntary fact checker. One of my support tickets took 28 days for their first reply and then when they replied they gave me only 3 days to respond to them or they would close the ticket. At least one of my support tickets was closed down for inactivity. So after that I then watched for the support ticket response, and if I couldn't reply, I'd just respond every 3 days until I had time to reply. It was a very busy time for me and it was difficult to find time to sit down to a process that I expected to take tens of minutes. In the end when I did go through with it I then hit the roadblock that I needed to prove my identity and my passport was out of date. If anyone from FastSpring sees this, you can check all this with your support tickets and my final message to you. I am rating my experience as 1 star because you never warned me that you would close down my store if I didn't reply by some date. Also when asked what the date was you never provided a date and never backed up what you said with any evidence of a date you gave me to reply by. So it might not even have been a missed email. It seems very likely you never sent me a date to reply by. I am also rating it 1 star for your very slow response to seller tickets, at one point 28 days and your policy of closing down inactive tickets if there is no response every 3 days. Writing in hope you see this and can remedy this
Response from FastSpringMar 12, 2026
Hi Robert, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're truly sorry about your store closure and the frustration you experienced throughout this verification process. Your feedback about the lack of clear communication regarding deadlines is valuable and concerning. We've escalated this to our leadership team immediately, and we understand how the combination of slow response times, unclear deadlines, and missing communication created an impossible situation for you. We'll have someone from our team reach out to you directly to review your case. We appreciate your many years as a FastSpring seller and want to make this right.
