A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Farmers increased our premium by $116 without notifying us or our mortgage servicer. After receiving a threat from them that they would cancel our policy, we called them to sort it out. The Farmers rep said they don't have a way to overnight a payment (which was incorrect). Our mortgage servicer mailed a payment. We called over 2 weeks later and they claimed that never received the check. We paid with our credit card. I called back 2 days later and they said they received the check and verified a double payment. They promised a refund that never came.
Yesterday, I spent over 2 hours on the phone. I was told that they applied the refund to a policy renewal that I never requested. I spent another hour on the phone trying to get the refund. Finally, they said they would send it in 2 business days. We'll see.

getting bent over
have had farmers for some time, never made any claims,2023 statement comes up with an increase of $70.00 dollars, called agent his response was they anticipate storms in 2023 so the cost goes up,told him that i was going to shop around on pricing, come to find out that they were the highest out of the 3 other companies, contract was up so i decided to try other company and save $200.00 since i am retired, they decided to charge me for breaking up the bundle pkg of $265.30 and put it on my home insurance, that really irked me off, they were $200.higher than the other companies from the beginning and come to find out they will be higher than normal for the house insurance because of the storms, both my accounts were paid in full, so do not believe that you are getting a savings when you bundle you are being taken by there numbers game they play on the people, shop before you commit. sharks in the water.

Farmers is the WORST home insurance…
This is the WORST home insurance company I ever had.
I wanted to canceled a policy for one of my homes. I kept on calling and they say their system is not working therefore you have to wait 30 to 50 minutes on the phone. After that long wait they hung up the phone. You can not talk to anybody. I think it’s scam because they don’t want you to cancel.
I would not recommend them. It’s a bad company!

Avoid Farmers Insurance
Farmers has to be one of the worst insurance companies I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Their Corporate Staff is both untrained and unprofessional.
I paid my Car Insurance online and received an email immediately confirming my payment. When I paid my Home Owner’s online, nothing happened. I waited 3 days and then contacted their Customer Service Department. After much back and forth they told me that maybe my email address was incorrect, I told them that I received the email confirmation from my Auto Payment, then they told me that it could take up to 24 hours to receive the email, I reminded them that it had been more than 48 hours, then they told me that maybe there was something wrong with my Home Owner’s Policy and that maybe I should cancel it and have my agent reissue it, this is when I determined that their staff answering calls were just making stuff up. Shortly after I paid both my bills in full, I received a letter in the mail saying I had made a payment, yet I still had a previous balance due of $663.56. I called to ask what this was and I was told I owed nothing, I asked to speak with a supervisor who again told me that my current balance was zero. I then asked why I received a statement showing that I owed a previous balance. After waiting patiently, I was told that they were unsure where this amount came from and why that statement was mailed. I was told that they would investigate what happened and contact me. After more than a week, I emailed them back asking what the status of their investigation was. They politely told me that my current balance was zero and that I should have a Nice Day. I called them back and again was told they were looking into this… yet I never heard anything. This year, our state refunded insurance money ($400.00) to every vehicle that was registered as of last year. Every day at work, I would ask my coworkers if they had received their rebate. Progressive, Geico, All-State, State Farm, every other insurance company had issued their rebate checks. I emailed Farmers and again heard nothing back. Three days later I received a letter in the mail stating that Farmers was working on issuing the checks, why Not just issue them versus mailing everyone a letter informing us that your going to issue a check? I was the last person in my office to receive their rebate check. Only recently, I purchased a new car and received my bill, I paid it even though it was higher because I now own a foreign car. I was recently contacted by one of the new agents and was told that I was currently on a 6 month policy (that is renewed every 6 months) and that if I switched to a yearly policy, I could save a lot of money. I was told I could still pay every 6 months. I asked why wasn’t I currently on a yearly policy and why was I ever placed on a six month plan to begin with? They didn’t have any explanation but asked if I wanted to switch. I told them that since they had been basically cheating me with the higher rate since I purchased my new car, that I would be switching to a different insurance company. Farmers Insurance should be avoided at all costs, not only are they expensive, but the Customer Service from their Corporate Staff is non-existant.

Went with Farmers on first home owned…
Went with Farmers on first home owned and it had shake shingle roof. High premium but all companies are with this roofing. They offered best price at 70% coverage. Hail damage in the first year of ownership. We had repplacement quoted and they valued it at 70% of the replacement so covered 70% of that less a high deductible because wind and hail are an exception to the standard deductible. In the end they paid 40% of what replacement cost is.
