I found many useful records on FamilySearch, but some of them later disappeared from the platform and are no longer available.

FamilySearch has a shared Family Tree with over a billion people in it. Many of the reviews are from people expecting to have their own, private tree, and are annoyed when someone messes up their data. The shared tree's goal is to identify as many people as possible who have lived, and how they are related. On almost every other site, you spend most of your time either re-discovering what others have already found, or copying from their trees. This feels cleaner, because you have one, consistent view of your data (whether or not it is actually right). But if you look at all the conclusions in all the trees at other sites, there is at least as much total error, plus massive duplication. For me, the great thing about FamilySearch is that I can "pick up where others left off," and I can get new work done "once and for all", so that everyone benefits from my work. I do believe there is room for improvement on how easy it is to correct the mistakes of others. And there should be more guidance to prevent users from making mistakes in the tree in the first place. But I love that I don't have to start from scratch in this combined tree.

the best thing about familyseach is its shared tree and the worse thing its shared. tree! This means you get all the help of fellow tree builders. The later is more frequently helpful but you are at the mercy of their edits on the shared tree, the good, bad and dam right ugly! The bad reviews here are complaints of sharing and therefore losing ownership of your tree and its associated data. My experience of above is predominately positive and considering its free that is is not bad at all. Please note the shared tree is backed up by the biggest online set of online database. Usually most people part of the shared tree starts as family knowledge and then matures as firmer data by attaching online documents to back up the family knowledge to verified data. This works very well until the mid 1500s where these online documents such as birth, christening , marriage , death and burial documents finish and then the data becomes more speculative in terms of history books etc etc The app could be considerably improved by aiding this process is instead of expecting the user to fit the app! I have made a suggestion that each person background colour should be coded in the rainbow colours indicating how many of the vital key data points are back up with attached documents. Then other users would know not to edit {or only edit very carefully} those who have documents backing them up already.
An angry Ancestry E.

Familysearch-- I am a user for as long as it is online. I would have given you 5 stars a few years ago. However, I have degraded you down to four stars. Why? I never had any problem using your website. 30 years and more genealogical work and most of the time spend on the Internet. Many years spend in your research center made me realize that you didn't improve the websites but made them harder to use. There is a saying in life : "you don't change things if the work fine". The changes you made within your website make it a lot harder to navigate through your website. Your programmers are capable to work easy with the sites, but your older users have to change every times with new designs. Getting older doesn't mean you can change all the time. It also means you have less time left in your life. So stop changing your searchable sites, please. The were always fine in the first place. You are a free service and that is in today's time very much appreciated. But if you do advertise something for free you should give it for free. It's not a good way, especially for a church, that you tell us things are free but you still can't have them. I am talking about all the films that are coming online that have a key and are not viewable from a home computer. Many are not falling under the privacy act, because they are way too old to do so. Country restrictions may be in place, but I am sure that in most cases that has changed too. Right now, we are in a pandemic and can't visit any history center to view the films. How long will this last? Who knows. It would be great if you could consider to open the films at least the part that is not within data protection. One star less from the five star years ago? Stop improving and changing things within your search site and stop advertising something free that is not accessible. Thank you.
