Great source for genealogical research, but skip the family tree. Anyone at anytime can remove your accurately researched ancestors and replace them with erroneous forefathers. Example: a mother gave birth to her firstborn at the age of 2 years old. Somebody call Guinness World Records!! Allowing a collaboration of anyone and everyone to edit your family tree is ridiculous. Anyone can sabotage your well-researched tree and there's nothing stopping them.

Used to LOVE this site. A lot of great info. Somehow, all of my ancestors are being corrupted. "This person was merged." Go to the merge page. NO INFO!!! No parents, no spouse, no children, no records - THE PAGE IS BLANK!!!!! More and more of my ancestors, ones I have verifiable records for, some of those records I got on FamilySearch, now all being DELETED from the site. One man got unlinked from his father. Records linking his father were erased. Father still on the site, but all records pertaining to his son have been deleted. Multiple records from ancestry.com show his parents match, all of the siblings match, their records show he was sibling, town matches... SAME PEOPLE, but for some reason Familysearch deleted that relationship and ALL records showing it. Ancestry cites records. wikitree cites records, FamilySearch did as well but they deleted them all. (I am talking specifically about the people whose records were deleted on FamilySearch) I have that relationship, including DOCUMENTATION, in my family tree, but others looking for his ancestors will be denied that information because FamilySearch deleted it. So much for a collaborative effort. Only takes ONE person a few minutes to DESTROY what others have been working on for YEARS.

Anyone can add or subtract any information whether it is accurate or not. Incorrect information is difficult to correct. There are many mistakes in relationships in my family information. Some children are assigned to the wrong parents when father and son have the same name and step children are listed as biological children. One branch of my family tree traces to the 1300's, but if my immediate family has mistakes how can distant past history be trusted?

In Aug. of 2014, it appears that Family Search created duplicate records for all living people, from what it looks like. I found this out recently when two of my sisters died. They both had duplicate records. I started to notice that the record that I log into was not the record that my wife was connected to. And the record that she logs into is not the record that I am connected to. I started researching and noticed that in August of 2014 duplicate records were created by the family search system for many of my then living relatives and at that point everything is greatly messed up. However, because we are living individuals, Family Search will not correct anything. For one, they won't make changes for living individuals. And for two, the record that they created is not tied into the account that I log in with, so, therefore, I cannot change it. Their support has been no help at all and it appears that we won't be able to merge the records until I die.

Looking at this site I found a number of my family members marked as deceased when they are still well and living.

I started using family search c.2006 and always found what I was searching for. But in the last few years some changes must have been made to it because finding what I have typed into the search boxes has become an infuriating task. I put in the terms, e.g William Cato - but get William Edward Cato or Frederick Cato....anyone but the person I'm looking for and always outside or inside of the date I've specified. It's a really frustrating experience now whereas before it was simple and I always found what and who I was looking for. Which ever techs ruined this site should be fired. And, to the 7th day adventists PLEASE put this site back to what it used to be - Wonderful, Helpful, simple to use.
