I needed a new pair of glasses ASAP
I needed a new pair of glasses ASAP. I was rwo weeks away from a three week vacation trip. The (scratch?) coating on the glasses I had was delaminating. I wanted wire rimmed gold frames. Only Art Craft offered this style. My frames arrived in four days. The only problem I had was in determining the size to order. Several measurements were required. I visited two opticians and received several conflicting measurements for the bow, the bridge and the temple. I took my own measurements also. None of the listings of measurement combinations on the Art Craft web site matched those that I felt I had that were accurate. So I chose one of their combinations that was closest. Then, after filling out the order form, at the very end I discovered that one more measurement was required...the pupillary distance. A return to the opticians was met with determined passive resistance regarding this measurement. Apparently the pd is a trade secret. At this point, with time running out, I had to give up on an order for a completed pair of eyeglasses. I ordered only the bare frame. The frame arrived almost limmediately and I was able to get the lenses made and installed before my trip. The optician adjusted the nose pads and bow which were tight and uncomfortable. I have had many pairs of this antque, Schuron style of rimless eyeglasses. The Art Craft comes close to an exact copy, yet, somehow, the overall look is different. Art Craft should make it known to the customer that the pupillary distance is also needed at the very start of the ordering process.
