Avoid taking the home test with ETS, is a scam to take your money. What makes it worse is that they make you wait on the phone for hours and if you complain they simply hang up. I am not sure what the money game with universities is but the monopoly ETS enjoys is shameful.

Terribly organised online testing that favours people from wealthy socioeconomic backgrounds. My girlfriend just had her test cancelled due to a family member entering the room during her test. She lives in a poor country and can only take the test in one area in her house. After hearing this I was appalled so I searched the internet to find tons of complaints from people from lower income backgrounds and many complaints of racial prejudice. This is an absolute disgrace and I'm glad institutions seem to be dropping this shambolic exam.

Awful awful awful Customer service. If you could go with a different company definitely do it. They SUCK at addressing any concerns you may have. Steer clear of these people who are out to just steal your monwy if they get any chance!

Never been a fan of standardized test, but I get why they are used - necessary evil. I took the test the previous year and this year. As you would expect, score improved … except for the essay. Apparently, teaching how to write such essays made me worse? A lot worse? ETS can’t explain the score, but for an extra charge, they’ll review it? I’ve done this thousands of times and all of the sudden I go from near perfect to mediocre at best? And no one at ETS can explain the score unless pay them? A 30-minute essay is a pretty standard format. This isn’t a difficult test. However, when assigning a grade, you do have to actually read the essay and provide feedback. ETS does not appear to have done that. I can see why universities are removing this test from consideration. Apparently, paying to play whatever this game is does not actually predict success in graduate programs. Universities appear to grasping profit motivation over merit. Good for them. [edit:] ETS did reach out and confirmed that they will actually look at the essay, but only if I pay them. No one can explain why the score is the score or list anything wrong with the essay. I wonder how many other people are paying an extra charge to upgrade their score? The entire thing looks like a scam.

I can't seem to contact customer support regarding my language exam. I can't chang password because I get addressed to the types of tests page. I haven't received a refund for the previous one. Is there anybody working in their office or is it abandoned?

Unable to register for TOEFL due to website issues. Unable to log in.

I really wished I could give a 0 - star ratings. The ETS guys are truly scammers. Try to avoid taking any tests via ETS, they are trained to suck your money. The customer service agents are so s*****, don’t even expect the slightest help from them. My experience has been so awful, I regret that I lost $190 to these cheats!

Website stated a particular ID document is acceptable. Center refused to accept the ID document, stating that ETS has issued contrary instructions internally. How is the test taker supposed to know about internal instructions? Test was on a weekend but ETS customer support work 8 hours a day on weekdays only. They know they are a global testing monopoly for english language testing and they are abusing their position.
