They keep your money for a long time, the money that can accumulate interest if kept elsewhere, and then say that the deal cannot go through because of ROFR (right of first refusal). Although there's a deadline for ROFR, they keep the money longer and finally refund the money. This is their business model, keeping people money w/o paying interest for months. I don't know why no one has sued them yet! I had 3 cases like this with them. My advice: stay away from them. They can't close deals, the ones they close are all crappy deals.

As I’ve said many, many times - Canadians can’t invest through Equity Zen unless they hold $5 million in cash assets - I am a Canadian & wanted to invest through Equity Zen, many times but it was not allowed. I was told this problem was being worked on but that was a few years ago & nothing has changed to my knowledge.

Selling is almost impossible You can spend months and months listing until you get discouraged. I would not refer anyone to this.

Read the small print. If you invest and the company does not IPO you don't get your money back it's gone. If it does IPO you are still not guaranteed to get your money at all. Best case scenario it does IPO and you can get your money, you can not withdraw your money within the first 12 months.

I made an investment in EquityZen over 5 years ago, but am still not permitted to exit. At the time, the investment was $10k, but they will not allow you to sell unless the stake is larger - so they are telling me that unless I double down on the investment, I cannot exit. What an absolute scam.

I have working with the company for a year and a half, just as an example their internal systems does not reflect real market conditions and as an example - I have invested in Quanenergy systems 30k, while their were on market trough SPAc and I got their shares on my broker account with net worth 5K - can you imagine? What is more interesting is that their internal system was reflecting 72K worth investment for the same investment until it was inside EquityZen . So, I would not recommend anyone to invest trough very non transparent Equityzen system, which for sure makes assumptions without any proof!

I invested in NextVR. It was purchased by Apple for pennies on the dollar. I have communicated several times via email with the company about transferring the money from the investment to another account. My account online states the money was transferred. My other account did not receive the money. I have been trying for almost 1 year (at least since March 2021) to find out what happened. No-one from customer service has contacted me since March 2021. I even called and left a voice message. Their customer service is nonexistent. DO NOT invest with them.
