Great platform but limited support for investor concerns…
EquityZen offers competitive private equity share prices, but they could better advocate for investors during crises. The handling of PolySign’s liquidation, coupled with the firm's misleading claims of “good” standing, highlights a missed opportunity for EquityZen to act more proactively or involve regulatory authorities like the SEC. Despite the platform’s usefulness and responsive team, stronger investor advocacy and transparency would build greater trust and confidence.

While private market closings do tend to take longer than in public markets, at EquityZen, each transaction undergoes a 'right of first refusal' review by the company. Comprehensive Legally
Comprehensive Legally. I prefer a Company to investor direct deal with an escrow firm taking a fee. The way I understand it, Equity Zen holds my money/shares in a "Fund" earmarked for the company I bought. Confusing but presumably safe.

Yes, while we do offer deals that are "Direct Share Acquisition" where an investor invests directly in a company which typically has minimum investment sizes of $150K or more. Our main offerings are funds. These are Special Purpose Vehicles that allow accredited investors to access private company investments in sizes much smaller than direct deals. Great experience overall
Great experience overall. Wish after the initial agreement was signed, there was more communication in terms of updates as the process ended up taking longer than expected and I had to continue to check in every couple weeks for a status update.

unique opportunities but high fees
EquityZen introduced us to another entity that allowed us to succesfully invest in a pre-IPO company. It would not otherwise have been possible to make that investment. We are happy with our investment, but I do feel that the only work that Equityzen did was to introduce an interested buyer to an interested seller, and for that their 5% fee is very high.

They make it easy to do a purchase but lack company financial details.
They make it easy to do a purchase. The biggest issue is stale valuations on offerings and not enough financial information to make an informed decision. Often not even the most basic of financial information is available. Like historic revenue, past/future growth, amount of debt,

David Thanks for sharing your experience. You're right, there is not as much information available on private companies as there are on public companies. We do work hard to provide investors with information such as Capitalization Tables, recent news and reports from research providers like Sacra.

good experience overall - more insight helpful
easy to register interest and execute most docs. the process after submission and waiting to hear if a deal goes through is unclear and more info with likelihood of closing would be helpful
