Love the way it allows to invest in early start companies by virtue of various means including ability to invest in multiple companies using their various offerings on different industry types. Very awesome customer service and extremely fast in responding to any queries. Keeps customers up-to-date on everything and easy to use website. Easy way to invest in pre-ipo companies and other related instruments. Based on all above I would have given 5 stars to this on all above fronts. The only reason I am giving a 3 star is due to my observation over last 3 years that is that I would liked them to scrutinize a LOT more on the overall valuation of the equities they offer or invest in (for e.g. when I put aside $x for EquityZen Growth Investment Fund or any other equivalent fund). Yes - we all know that with reward comes risk but most of us believe in the concept of manageable risk by virtue of more scrutiny when such investment is being offered or made. If they can start doing this more, I would continue to be a very very satisfied customer and continue to invest more and more here. I have also referred them to many of my friend circle and relatives since generally I have a very good impression based on my being a customer with them for last ~5 years.

I would have liked to have had a better way to contact EquityZen than by email alone. Especially when those emails either go unanswered or have a delayed response time. When you invest over $80,000, you don't expect to be given the bum's rush when you have a question. That's why I have subsequently opened an account with LINQTO and plan to give them first consideration for my next venture-type investment.

I contacted customer service about selling my remaining shares of Thrive Market stock. I was not made aware that to sell shares it had to be a certain dollar amount before it was listed as available to Buy. There is no mention anywhere on the EquityZen site explaining this issue.

I did not like that it’s not a true marketplace. My ability to trade my shares and the number of shares was gated by the CEO. This is not a function of my option agreement but instead the way I understand it subjectively by the CEO of the company and his relationship with EZ I had share to sell and I know people who tried to buy and were unable to.

Like many not impressed with them. They had an IPO offer for a company I liked. Bought into it. Then 1 month had another offer for 30% of what I originally paid. Now all offers for this company are at 30%. How do you freaking lose 70% in 1 month???
