Poor communication on when deal would close in terms of how quick the money would be due. Then harrassed daily by reps to make sure that I would pay, even though I had three successful transactions in the quarter. Taking a break from Equity Zen in favor of Forge and Hiive.

I’ve had a deeply disappointing experience with EquityZen. I invested a significant amount in shares of a private company through their platform. After holding the investment for years, EquityZen decided to stop supporting secondary transactions for that company. As a result, I have no ability to sell my position. The issue is that I’m completely locked in. I can’t exit the investment — not even at a steep discount, there is no mechanism available to do so because EquityZen chose to discontinue support for that company. The message I received was: “At this time you are not able to sell your investment. We will notify you if this changes in the future.” Effectively, my capital is frozen indefinitely. From my perspective, this has resulted in a total loss — not due to company performance, but due to platform limitations and unilateral decisions.

After months, I was just advised that I would not receive the Ktaken' shares I tried to purchase. Money tied up, research, anticipation, etc; for nothing.

I’ve invested successfully across many platforms and asset classes, but my experience with EquityZen has been nothing short of disastrous. After extensive research, I invested in Heavy.AI, meeting their requirement of just over 2% of the fund to qualify for early liquidity. Later, when I attempted to exit, they had diluted my holdings to 1.98%, making me ineligible to sell. The situation worsened when Heavy.AI was acquired by Nvidia in August, the acquisition price was a mere 0.2% of the investment, rendering my investment essentially worthless. It's fraudulent, no company would accept an acquisition at that price. On top of that, I invested a substantial sum in Quanergy Systems, only to see the company file for bankruptcy less than a year later. Based on these experiences, I strongly caution anyone considering EquityZen to avoid the platform at all costs.
