Anand, at Epik, was very insightful in providing a domain directive. I was struggling with whether to have a .org or another extension, however, Anand helped me understand the benefits of both but how one might be better suited for those searching me. Thank you, Jack, Indiana

Anand was helpful. I was a little frustrated. Cpanel does indeed make many things easier. I sort of caved into going back to a cpanel service after just managing my own vps for so many years. I like the control I have with a regular linux system or vps, but wanted to be able to get away from all the unix admin stuff and focus on websites. But the organization is clumsy a bit--file ownerships, directory structure where instead of all domains being in a similar structure, you have a master domain and the others are in subdirectories of public_html. And then there are different accounts, subdomains vs addon vs just plain domains, and Wordpress multi-site is nice other than that it seems to require using subdirectories rather than subdomains. And yet I can work around it all pretty well and still appreciate not having to manage email or SSL. But when I confuse accounts and their passwords, then a few attempts and the firewall locks me out, and I find that intensely frustrating. I feel stupid. I feel open to a pedantic, somewhat insulting upbraiding, though I never received the chewing out I thought might be coming, and I appreciate that. But it left me almost wanting to return to using my old VPS or my mac pro at home instead. Yet, the frustration involved was not enough to outweigh the extra work involved in working with the VPS. Yet the VPS does give more flexibility--for instance to work in other programming languages, etc.

I transferred all my domain names, hosting, and email to Epik and had to ask a lot of silly newbie questions. Their chat support reps were all kind, clear, patient, and super helpful. I can't thank them all enough for assisting me with the move, and I look forward to good time with Epik Hosting.

I deal with a LOT of different tech vendors, and I must say that Epik is predictably fast and efficient. The customer support is very knowledgeable about the technical aspects of the business, so they answer technical questions quickly and help me avoid having to involve tech support on everything.
