Asked for folio of room charges and taxes at Hotel and found I was overcharged by Engine plus the taxes added by Engine were at a much higher percentage than actual tax rate. Waiting for Engine to respond and see if they give me a refund or credit.

Engine values the dollar over customer satisfaction
I've been an Engine customer for over a year and genuinely enjoyed booking through them for the discounts and rewards. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was disappointing enough that I've decided to stop using them altogether.
I booked and prepaid for a two-night stay from 9/11–9/13 through Engine. On the day I was supposed to check in, my daughter became sick, so we had to postpone our arrival until the following day. At 3:52 that afternoon, I called the hotel twice to let them know I wouldn't be arriving until 9/12. No one at the front desk answered. I went back to work and, admittedly, didn't think to call again.
When I arrived on 9/12, I was told I had been marked as a no-show and my entire reservation had been released. I lost the money I had already prepaid and then had to pay an additional $240 to book a room for that night.
My biggest issue is that I could not find anything in my Engine reservation clearly explaining that failing to check in on the first night would result in the remainder of my prepaid reservation being canceled. Had that been clearly communicated, I absolutely would have continued trying to reach the hotel or contacted Engine directly to make sure my reservation was protected.
Instead of helping resolve the situation, Engine pointed me toward the hotel, while the hotel pointed me back toward Engine. As the customer who booked and prepaid through Engine, I was left in the middle.
About a week later, Engine notified me that, with the hotel's cooperation, they would give me a $70 credit toward another stay booked through Engine. At this point, I'm out nearly $400, and the proposed resolution was a $70 credit that required me to spend more money through the same company.
I ultimately disputed the Engine charge with my credit card company. After Engine received notice of the dispute, I received an email stating that my Engine account was restricted and would remain that way unless I contacted my credit card company and withdrew the dispute.
No thank you.
I was a loyal Engine customer for more than a year, but this experience showed me how little protection I had when something went wrong. I understand that I missed my original check-in date, but I also attempted to contact the hotel, had prepaid for the stay, and was never clearly informed that missing the first night's check-in could cancel the remainder of my reservation.
I'll take my business elsewhere. I can receive comparable travel perks through Expedia, where I've had a long-standing and positive experience.

BRIDES RUN AWAY FROM ENGINE!!!
BRIDES RUN AWAY FROM ENGINE!!!!
I really wish I had read these reviews first instead of being influenced by all the instagram ads my algorithm was feeding me. This company was advertised to me as being able to help streamline the process of booking hotel room blocks for my wedding. Instead it made it unnecessarily complicated and added undue stress to the beginning of my wedding planning process. I submitted my request and all but one were declined, the person that started to text me to "help" told me that I should ask for less rooms and that asking for more than 1 night would make hotels less likely to agree to provide rooms. After being declined by my top choice hotels I decided to circumvent Engine and go directly to the hotel websites. Within hours I had proposals from 2 different hotels that had previously declined or sent in lesser proposals through Engine. The very kind woman who works at the Marriott told me they don't like working with Engine and confirmed that they declined the Engine request because they have a 2 night minimum, which was actually preferable to me. I'm so annoyed that I ever even heard of this website.

The absolute worst company around
The absolute worst company around. Complete garbage. Do not let your company be sold on their lies. You can change nothing, the prices are the same, and most everything is not direct billing. One of the worst customer services I have ever experienced. Do not contract with Engine. You will waste more money than ever.

The whole design team should be fired. I had a terrible experience and they will explicitly lie to you.

Hell for Hotel operators
Oh my God. What a nightmare to deal with this company. Booking.com and Expedia are nightmares but they are better nightmares than engine. They cover incidentials and when the guest charge incidentials to the room Engine disputes. Why do you promise to cover incidentials for when you don’t want to.

My customer service agent Josh Briggs…
My customer service agent Josh Briggs is very weird and sends a lot of aggressive texts trying to pressure me into committing to a hotel block I don’t want to.
