Canadian buyers beware
Canadian buyers beware, even though you order something off Empires Canadian website, the item may ship directly to you from the U.S. and you will be charged a lot more undeclared cross border fees. I live on Vancouver Island and ordered a boat cover off the Empire.ca website on Sept 11 presuming the company had a Canadian presence/warehouse. I was charged $258.99 for the boat cover, $65 for shipping and $38.88 for tax. When I received my boat cover i noticed it was a shipped via Fedex from Kentucky U.S.A. but I presumed since I already paid shipping and tax, everything would be fine and there would not be any additional costs. Today, Oct 16th, I was surprised to receive an invoice from Fedex for an additional $112.89 for various fees including an additional $47 in provincial and federal taxes. So to summarize, I paid $258.99 for the boat cover and $216.77 for shipping and taxes totalling 33%! In the companies website under shipping info, it states "Empire does not reimburse for any additional costs incurred due to importation".
