Extremely Misleading and Unprofessional — Please Be Careful!
I am writing this review to warn others about my experience with this company in hopes of preventing someone else from going through the same situation. This company sends out letters designed to look urgent, warning that you could lose your car’s warranty if you do not contact them by a specific date. What makes this especially concerning is that the letter does not clearly identify the company sending it. Instead, it displays Honda at the top, making it appear as though the notice is coming directly from the dealership where I purchased my vehicle. When I called, I specifically told the representative that I did not feel comfortable providing my credit card information over the phone. The person I spoke with reassured me that it was safe and told me they were part of a department at my dealership. Based on that reassurance and the way the letter was presented, I believed I was dealing with someone affiliated with my dealership regarding my existing vehicle warranty. However, the representative did not clearly explain that I was actually being signed up for additional warranty coverage separate from the original warranty provided by the dealership. Because the letter made it seem as though my existing warranty was at risk, I felt pressured to act. Against my better judgment, I provided my card information and was enrolled in a plan costing $150 per month for three years — a total of $5,400. The following day, I called to cancel. The man I spoke with was aggressive, unprofessional, and unwilling to provide clear answers to my questions. When I tried to close my account, he began yelling at me. During a five-minute phone call, I asked to cancel my plan three separate times, yet he still would not process my cancellation. Ultimately, I had to cancel my credit card and obtain a new one just to stop the recurring charges. I find these business practices extremely misleading. The way the letter was presented, the lack of clear company identification, and the reassurance I received when I expressed concerns about providing my payment information all contributed to my belief that I was dealing with my dealership regarding my existing warranty. The experience became even worse when I tried to cancel and was met with aggression rather than professional customer service. Please be careful if you receive one of these letters. Verify directly with your dealership before calling any number listed on the notice, and do not provide payment information until you have independently confirmed who you are dealing with and fully understand what you are purchasing. I am sharing my experience in the hope that it helps even one other person avoid the stress, frustration, and potential financial burden I experienced. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company.
