Good Early Support, but Unable to Recommend Due to Communication Approach
I worked with Kevin Neaves for several years and initially had a positive experience. He provided guidance that I found helpful and appeared to act in my best interest. However, during a recent discussion regarding a potential conflict of interest related to a 401(k) rollover, the interaction shifted in a way that gave me pause. After initially agreeing to move forward with the rollover, I revisited the decision a couple of months later following a job change and relocation. With these changes, I wanted to better understand potential conflicts of interest before proceeding. His response to this felt defensive and included remarks that I perceived as dismissive of my inquiry. This made it difficult to have a constructive, open dialogue around an important financial decision. I take responsibility for how I phrased my question and recognize it could have been more precise. That said, I believe clients should be able to ask questions about conflicts of interest and receive clear, professional, and respectful responses. Because of this experience, I no longer feel confident recommending his services. Open, transparent communication is essential in an advisory relationship, and this interaction did not meet that standard for me. I do appreciate the support Kevin provided earlier in our engagement. Since then, I have transitioned to a different advisor who better aligns with my preference for collaborative and transparent discussions when making financial decisions.
