I purchased a pair for $2,500 and after using them for a maximum of 2 months they stopped working. I have tried to get help in fixing them, but without any luck. They want me to buy a new pair and ONLY offer a small discount. These hearing aids NEVER worked for me, and I'm so disappointed with this product, I cannot recommend this product.

We are sorry that you didn't have a satisfactory experience with your older Eargo Neo HiFi hearing aids. Our support team is always happy to assist our clients, and we welcome your feedback.

Eargo 7 not working
I had an Eargo Neo which I really liked. It had some minor problems, but overall it was a great hearing aid. When that died (they have a lifespan of a few years) I ordered the latest model, the Eargo 7 in spite of my hesitation due to the cost.
A friend ordered an open-box Eargo 7 from Ebay for half price, but that stopped working after 2 months. He had no recourse because Eargo does not support resold units, even if they are still under warrantee. But because of my own experience and the fact that his was an unsupported model, I did not let that real experience stop me.
The unit itself looks fantastic and fits the ear much better than the Neo. After tweaking with the app, it also sounds alot better, which i did not realize was possible. I was thrilled after the first day.
The next day I go out to lunch and insert the Eargo 7s at the restaurant, but they never 'wake up' to process sound. I could not use the devices on the second day. Did the aids drain the battery overnight?
When I got home, I plugged in the charger and the entire thing immediately came to life and worked fine. The Eargo 7s could not remain overnight without being plugged in. This is a MAJOR inconvenience, as it cannot be used without a charger. So I started carrying around a charger everywhere and 'woke up' the device in the car upon arrival at my event or meeting.
A few days later, the Eargos do not wake up at all. The charger connects to the phone app (mostly), but does not react to the devices being plugged in at all. Is it the charger? The device? I have no idea. All I know is that after 1 week and 6 or so uses later I am over two grand lighter in the pocket, but still have no hearing aids.
Customer service had me clean the device and when that did not work offered to send a new one.
I am giving them 2 stars solely for their customer service. I hope the next set comes back better.

Not for people with serious hearing loss
I suppose that for some people with very minor hearing loss, these devices are fine. I started out with crazy expensive Oticons that I was overall happy with except for the price. They wore out.
I decided to give Eargo a try. While they made a noble effort to help, these devices are not all that good. They may help some folks with minor hearing disabilities. But in all seriousness, if you need good hearing aids as I do, you have to pay the price. After one year, I abandoned Eargo and went with hear.com. The difference is like night and day. I have no major complaint with Eargo. But their devices are not on par with real hearing aids in spite of their clever and effective marketing.
The app that accompanies Eargo? Honestly, it's awful. It is buggy and just doesn't work well.

Not so impressed with the Eargo 5.
I bought the Eargo 5's back in December. I do hear some sounds better and speech is more clear, but NOT when there is even fairly low level background noise. The background noise is very distracting and significantly detracts from the hearing experience. They can also sometimes randomly switch between the various listening modes, which SUPPOSEDLY can be selected by tapping my earlobe. That feature is a gimmick at best and rarely works correctly. Also phone support is a joke as they can take up to 24 hours to return your call, and it may be the middle of the night when they do so. I've reached a point where I only wear them for watching some TV shows, but to be honest I'd almost prefer to use closed captioning. I always wondered why EVERYONE I've ever know who wears hearing aids, (even expensive ones like Miracle Ear) says how much they hate them. NOW I know. I really feel like I flushed over $2600 right down the toilet.

I like Hearing but...
I began having issues with my Eargos about 4 months in. First, the charger had to be replaced. No big deal, that happens... Then after 9 months, my right ear began doing things like restarting for no reason, I dealt with support and they gave me "things to try" to fix the problem which continued but somewhat intermittently. Then one of the Eargos got louder or the other one got softer. The point is, the volumes changed on one of the units. So I called again and they gave me some "things to try." Again, initially seemed to work of work, but not really. At this point, I should have demanded full replacements, but I was trying to be a nice guy about it. Okay, I'm a dork! Finally about 2 months out of warranty, my right one died completely. Did they offer a replacement? Sure, but at half the cost of an original, NOT for free even though they knew I'd been having problems with them both!! So like a dork, I bought the right ear replacement. (Mind you, I'm still paying the financing of the original pair!!) Then this morning my left one which has been only lasting 8 hours and giving me fits charging for months now, has ceased to charge. Thanks, EARGO! Meantime, I won't be done paying for these until March! Share this if you know of anyone needing hearing aids.
