E-file.comReviews of e-file.com

From your review, I cannot tell if you are confusing us with another company or if you misread the E-file.com website. We make no claim to offer free tax extension software/filing. Now, with all extension software purchases on E-file.com, we do include our 1040 tax return software at no additional charge. This allows users who file an extension to come back anytime between April 16th and October 15th to file their tax return at no cost. This is a savings of up to eighty dollars. Again, I’m not sure if you misunderstood this, or if you are confusing us with another company. Please double check that you visited E-file.com and not another website with a similar name/URL.

I don't know why TaxSlayer would have referred you to us if you made a purchase with them. I can see that you have recently created several accounts with us, but I can find no purchase or completed filing associated with any of them. We log all support calls, and I am also not showing any record of a call you made to our support. It sounds like this purchase and your phone call was made to another company, not E-file.com. We attempted to reach out to you to see if we could assist you with determining where this purchase was made and whom you may have spoken to, but you did not respond to any of our emails and hung up on the representative who tried calling you. I am sorry you had this experience, but it was not with E-file.com and since you do not wish to communicate with us, we are limited on the assistance we can provide you.

I am very sorry if you had confusion with this. Our software costs can be found on the home page of our website. Your filing required our deluxe software since you have capital gains that you are reporting. You also opted to add a state tax filing. The cost of this was $60.98, which is $48 less expensive than you would have paid for the same software at the other tax software provider you have used. As for the $40 fee you spoke of, you originally selected to pay for your software by using the proceeds of your tax refund (there is a $39.99 fee for this third-party service). After the return was transmitted while it was pending acceptance by the IRS, you entered credit card payment information so that you could print out a copy of the filing (when paying with your refund, printing is enabled after the IRS accepts the return). When you contacted our support team, the agent explained what happened and refunded your credit card charge. I apologize if you were unhappy with this experience.

It sounds like you may have been attempting to call the wrong business or attempting to call a non-support phone number. We requested information from you through TrustPilot, so that we could investigate this further, but you did not respond. Our telephone support is available Monday through Friday 9:00 - 5:00 eastern, longer as we near filing deadlines. We offer free federal filing for those who qualify for our basic software. There is a fee for our state filing software and also a fee for our deluxe or premium software which is often used with more complicated returns. It sounds like a form needed for your return is not included in our basic software, so the system upgraded you, this would have been noted at the top of the page. I apologize if you missed this and the upgrade was unexpected. Since you did not respond to our request for more information, we were unable to lookup what caused your account to be upgraded.

I am sorry for the difficulty you had with this. I looked into your account and it appears that you submitted your return eight times. Each time the IRS rejected the return because you did not enter a prior year AGI or IP PIN that matched what the IRS records show.   Your AGI or IP PIN is what the IRS uses to allow a taxpayer to digitally sign a tax return and transmit it electronically. This is an IRS requirement to protect against fraud and is a requirement whenever filing electronically with any software provider.   It appears that you sent us one email request for assistance.  We answered this request and explained the reject code and how to fix it. However, you continued to transmit your return with information that did not match what the IRS has.   Please understand, we cannot force the IRS to accept a return when the taxpayer enters information that does not match their records.

I apologize for the poor experience. We attempted to reach out to you, so that we could look into this further and verify that you used E-file.com (we could not find a user matching the information included in this post). Unfortunately, you did not respond back. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

We reviewed your account and there was no log in attempt made since the day that you filed your tax return. It sounds like you may have been trying to log in to a different website. I’m very sorry for the confusion with this. I see that you sent us an email message which simply said "Can't find" and our support responded to you asking for additional information, however, you never replied back to them. You mentioned having a customer service phone number. We do provide telephone support with our deluxe and premium software purchases. You filed your return with us using our basic software completely free of charge, and at this time, we do not include telephone support with our free basic software. Our support has reached out to you with instructions for downloading and printing your return. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

It sounds like you may have used another website and are confusing it with ours. We have no customers matching the name Richard Coombes. We requested additional information from you through this website, however, you did not respond. Unfortunately, TrustPilot does not verify reviews are from actual users of a website and thus reviews like this are allowed.
