Worst escrow you could have. eBay chose them to handle the sale of motor vehicles but just like people say- no communication, no support of any kind. You are just left there to figure out on your own. Anything out of standard (like buyer not paying) - go figure. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM.

Thought this would be safe way to purchase a car from a private seller. Started checkout process which for me took about 2 minutes. Seller’s verification is claimed to be “less than one business day” - but dashboard showed no progress. Caramel site says “chat us” but there is NO chat line - just automated FAQ system. NO phone number to call, no emails from either Caramel or the seller - no transparency about what was taking so long. I could initially see email of seller, but once I started the process it was no longer available. After four days of waiting to continue process, I started to wonder if there was an issue with the vehicle or whether the whole thing was a scam. I finally found the “cancel” button - which is not visible if you log into website and was only partially visible in the phone app. I canceled. All information and communication was one way into the black hole….

I contacted the company for help with purchase of a car. The only way to contact them is through email. I emailed both the seller and drivecaramel.com. NO ONE answered my questions. I sent 4 different emails over 3 days and all went un answered. Waste of time!!!!

There are few customer reviews for this company online, so it's hard to know what you're getting into for a large transaction like buying/selling a car. Warning up front: There is no way talk to anyone at this company to resolve an issue. That option does not exist. They only have a ticketing system, and you will probably need to use it a lot. I have been working on a transaction now where the buyer and I agreed on a price over a week ago. I have had to open and reopen tickets with Caramel 7 times already. Two times where the system broke and wouldn't let me proceed, places where they were requiring signatures if the wrong place on paperwork, places where the paperwork was incorrect... the only option is to open a ticket, and the half a day or a full day later, they will resolve it. And at this point, they withdrew the down-payment from my bank account 4 days ago, and the status is still "payment pending". I can't get them to move this sale forward. For a transaction that usually takes 30 minutes in a dealership, we are into our 2nd week already, and there's nothing I can do. This delay and complication is not an expectation that they clearly communicate, and seems unnecessary. Only use this site if you're ok with the sale taking multiple weeks.
