DRHorton is a bad builder.
My family are first time home buyers and five days before we closed DRHorton left our water sprinkler system on for two days. After they realized it, they texted my next door neighbor to turn off the sprinkler for them. This contributed to killing my sod. But Clint W. Arnett the builder lied to Kathleen Haines who claim to be from corporate about the situation and they decided not to change my sod but they did change other home buyer’s sod. I did show proof of conversation between the builder and my neighbor where Clint asked them to shut the sprinkler off. But they did nothing to fix the problem. Please if your realtor come to you with a newly constructed homes from DRHorton DO NOT buy it. Look for other builders. The messed up part it is the home cost over half a million dollars. So for a home to cost that much and the company not taking any steps to rectify such an issue really speaks bad about them. My experience with this company was really awful.

Building on top of wet cement!!
Just watched DR Horton pour and concrete slab yesterday and this morning started building on it. WOW!!! I foresee foundation issues to whoever becomes my new neighbor.

My husband and I just purchased a Dr…
My husband and I just purchased a Dr Horton home in Denison Tx. We were in contact with the Dr Horton Karen Snow before the homes were even for sale. She knew that as soon as they were available we wanted a specific lot. My husband was in contact with her almost daily. He then received an email saying that she had sold her first home. Which was the home that we had wanted. So we decided on a different home. We were told that we would be able to close May/June. We signed the paperwork and started getting ready to sell our home and move into an apartment until our new home was ready. About a week after signing Karen Snow moved to a different development but she was still going to handle our contract. She would email rarely and the emails didn’t match what was going on with the house. My husband would call her and she might or might not call us back. May rolls around and we can’t get a hold of her and the house is not close to being completed. Our realtor spoke to the contractor and was told that it would be August before the house was completed. We ended up having to extend our lease on the apartment and had to pay over a thousand dollar a month from what we were originally paying!! Beware of Karen Snow!! She doesn’t care about the customer at all!! We had to call corporate at the end to even get a closing date!! She is the worst!! Don’t believe anything she says. She is only concerned about what’s going in her pocket.

Leakages everywhere
D.R. Horton built a low quality home and sold us. Ceiling leaks for every rain. Steven P Hambrick, Division Compliance Manager always tries to find reasons to deny warranty. Spilled water in up stair's toilet room is leaking directly into downstairs laundry room. Instead of fixing the grout or sealing the tiles properly, Steven P Hambrick is saying that I shouldn't spill water in the toilet room. He said 'since there is no drainage in toilet, it is designed to leak from ceiling'. He was very rude and denied to send this denial explanation in written form. I lost money but I am loosing my mental health as well. I won't be buying a D.R. Horton home again. When I inquire in 2024 , I understand from builders that "Bathrooms should be designed to handle water spills without leaking to the floor below.Grout is naturally porous, meaning it can absorb water if not sealed properly. However, in a well-constructed bathroom, there should be a waterproof membrane beneath the tiles to prevent any water that seeps through the grout from leaking into the floor below. The builder's claim that water will leak if it spills on the bathroom floor isn't accurate for a properly constructed bathroom. Bathrooms are designed to handle occasional spills without causing leaks. If water is leaking through to the first floor, it may indicate a construction defect, and the builder might need to address this issue."

Starting to regret my purchase
I only wish I would have read the reviews first. Their contact person is very nice but ineffective, maybe overworked. The left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. So we are getting nowhere fast. Problem is we closed already.

RUN! - Do Not Buy
I live in Plymouth, MN. All developments are hired out to lowest bidding subcontractors with zero craftmanship or attention to detail. Cheapest materials possible are used and D.R. does not care to make things right once you're in the home. We bought this home in March 2020. Where do I begin?
-Kitchen cabinets are made of fake wood and are not even constructed correctly. Doors screwed in the wrong place and gaps all over.
-Vinyl flooring is installed without proper sealing. If we have a spill and do not wipe it up immediately the flooring will bubble. Even worse, we had a coffee spill because the pot was not in place and it all ran off the counter, under the dishwasher. The area under and around the dishwasher was not sealed off properly so the coffee ran through the floor down to an unfinished bedroom down the concrete wall and pooled on the concrete floor. The floor under the dishwasher is rotten and needs to be torn out.
-Caulk is the lowest quality and is already peeling off of every surface it was used on, if it is not gone already. Every area with caulk was done very sloppily without any care.
-Unfinished bedroom has caulk instead of silicone sealant around the window frame. The caulk is still wet 2 years later and is serving no purpose except making a mess. Spray foam insulation was also used and sloppily applied leaving chunks sticking out all over.
-Countless gaps in the trim all over the house. No care in making it line up or look nice whatsoever.
-Vent openings look like they were cut by a child using a saw for the first time.
-Builder grade carpet. Carpet is already completely worn in common areas. Will not last longer than 5 years.
-Builder grade paint. Any fingerprint, smudge, splash, etc. will require you to paint over the area. You cannot wash the walls.
-Drywall in the ceilings is installed incorrectly. It does not run with the studs so inevitably cracks with show in finished ceilings where the sheetrock is not being supported by studs.
-Unfinished bedroom floor is 1" lower than the rest of the room in 1 corner.
-Framing for unfinished bedroom was done incorrectly resulting in a complete rebuild of the room to make the walls true and ceiling level.
-5th bedroom should have only required 1 wall to be framed prior to finishing. Our contractor had to frame 3 walls to fix subpar work by D.R. and this additional work is $5k out of our pocket.
-Windows are the cheapest possible. Leak air and show condensation.
-Unfinished bedroom/bathroom/utility room ceiling drywall is cut and pieced together with gaps, chunks missing, pieces drooping. This will all need to be replaced on our dime.
-Lumber used to frame unfinished areas has chunks missing, splintering, and partial pieces that should have been thrown away. A couple of 2x4s also have several exposed nails pounded through them.
-Some short walls (i.e. a pantry wall) are built at an angle and this is visible to the naked eye.
I reference the unfinished areas because those are the areas we can physically see. I assume the rest of the house is built the same way but is covered by finished walls. Now that we are finishing this area and I have another contractor peeling all of these issues apart we are, of course, well past our 1-year warranty for most of this and D.R. has no integrity to even look at it or work with me.
We are stuck in a place where we spent a lot of money on what is supposed to be a perfect new home and will be spending several 10s of thousands more dollars to correct their shoddy work. I cannot sell this home and move fast enough.

They are a terrible home builder
They are a terrible home builder. They use cheap materials and labor and put out an inferior product. Do yourself and your family a favor and buy from anyone other them them.
