purchased my home in 2020 let me say the selling process was smooth.outside lookin in the homes are beautiful I love my floor plan it's perfect for my family. Families looking to buy a house built from the ground up is so exciting you can loose yourself in the process like I did I didn't check the reviews on DR Horton and boy I wish I did. I see other ppl complaining about the cheap material being used well that's not one of my issues yet. The warranty department is horrible man oh man as soon as your one year inspection is done you are screwed in more ways than one. If they fall short on filling an obligation and you don't catch it you are up the creek without a paddle. Now the kicker the craftsmanship on my has fallen short the bathroom vent on the exterior wall was not properly sealed which means every time it rains water comes in and the water was sitting in between the exterior wall and the interior wall so now guess what I have mold. What do DR Horton do about it absolutely nothing refuse to come out and seal it because guess what I'm passed my one year warranty. I wasn't asking for money I'm out for finding the issue I was asking to repair what was not done in the first place. Not going to continue with the out come because I wrote enough. Buyers beware what your getting into with buying homes from DR Horton!!

Purchase a home from D.R, Horton April of 2023 before closing I had concerns after a heavy rain there was so much water still in the backyard. I stated to my realtor that I wasn't going to close until the drainage problem was fixed. A few days later I was contacted by a D. R, Horton staff stating that they would have the landscapers come back out to the property and fix the problem. Landscapers came out dug a trench on a hill that's in my backyard. Once the landscapers completed the job, I was told by 2 of D.R. Horton staff that was out on the property when the landscapers were completing the project that if I should have any more problems, they would see what else could be done so my yard want have the drainage problem. I also have an email with the same staff stating that D. R. Horton will fix the problem if it should happen again. Moving forward, I reached out to D.R. Horton on March 6, 2024, with pictures letting D.R. Horton know I'm still having problems. Picture were sent along with my emails; I also forward all the messages that I had with the staff in March of 2023 assuring me if the problem happen again D.R. Horton will come back out to see what else could be done to fix the drainage problem. After sending emailing all correspondence to Ms. XXXXX communication on stop. Since communication stopped. I called Customer Care in Arlington Texas located at the corporate office. This was like a slap in the face. The gentleman did not ask what community nor my address or phone number, He stated that the reason that I probably haven't received a phone call back was a many of the staff may be on Spring Break. Ms. XXXXX finally communicated on March 14 via email at 2:30 in the morning stating that they’re working researching and will get back to me. It’s now March 21, 2024, no communication. When I was purchasing my home, it really seemed like they care about their customers. I'm guessing after signing its money in their pocket on to the next person. At this point D. R. Horton doesn't deserve 1 star, I will not refer anyone to D. R Horton.

***READ*** I purchased a brand new D. R. Horton home at Saguaro Bloom Mesquite Village in Marana, AZ in 2019. These are the following issues I've had so far. 1. They didn't properly bolt down the AC motor in attic and it snapped and blew the motor which needed to be replaced within 1 month of owning. 2. Cracked driveway slab 3 times which they tried fixing and it's still cracked and discolored from rest of the slab. 3. Replaced all rain gutters because improperly installed and angled. 4. Cracks to outside stucco several feet long which they tried fixing a few times and still cracked. 5. Multiple cracks to interior walls and ceilings. 6. Dysfunctional water drainage when it rains. They placed drainage underground outback and it changed nothing. 7. Cracked tiles in kitchen and bathroom which they replaced twice and yet they continue to crack. 8. Repainted my house because of all the patch jobs they made to stucco. ***A law firm is now filing a class action lawsuit against D. R. Horton because the soil these homes were built on was not properly excavated or leveled and now whenever it rains, the soil soaks up the water like a sponge and it shift the entire foundation slab. This shifting is lifting the floors and ceiling, and load bearing walls causing severe compromise to the entire integrity of the foundation. Eventually, the walls and ceilings will come crashing down. I have informed D. R. Horton multiple times and they refuse to come out to assess or fix issues. I'm hoping the law firm will bankrupt D. R. Horton because he does NOT know how to build homes. The local and state agencies here in Marana, AZ should also be sued because there is absolutely no oversight when it comes to building homes here.***

I'm so disappointed and upset with the poor workmanship of the home. The window in our dining room is not centered in the wall. The doorway entry of our butler pantry is lopsided, 3/4 inch longer on one side than the other! Our hand rail on the stars is already detaching from the wall and we've only lived there for a month. Our front door and garage door weren't sealed properly and we moved into a home infested with mice and crickets! When we brought it up to our contractor the response was, well sorry pest control isn't included in the warranty. Well, if you had sealed our house properly we wouldn't have this issue to begin with. Right away paint, grout, and tile started chipping away. There's small holes in the dry wall and our tub also has a chip! And now the drawers in our kitchen are falling apart. We submitted warranty requests to address some of these concerns (including our key not working in our garage door and a broken window in one of the bedrooms) at the end of January and still haven't received a response.

After seeing multiple articles on this builder and reading all of the horrible reviews I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I did not pursue a contract with D R Horton!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! READ UP ON THIS COMPANY FIRST!!

Everything about buying a home from Dr. Horton was a horrible experience! Interior and exterior work was done half assed, had to tell them on three different occasions to re-do there work. To top it off the half assed work caused water damage in the interior of the home which caused a whole week and a half of repairs and furthered me to be moving my furniture in. Do not recommend by from these guys, not worth the money nor time!

Bait and switch. Don’t believe what you see on the model home because that’s not what you’re gonna get. You will get a house with substandard materials and shoddy craftsmanship. Their warranty is a scam! It will give you a false sense of security. But when a problem arise they will come up with a bunch of excuses and lies as to why it is not their responsibility! I literally had to clean my house upon moving in as it was so dirty! There were drill bits and staples on the carpet that almost injured my family! If I had to mention every issue I might have a heart attack right now. It’s just one issue after another and the big one was this recent ice storm. A good part of the community experienced a leak! We called them asap and there were already 28 people that called ahead of us with the same issue! I have a 50 year old home that didn’t have this problem and none of the people I know have mentioned that they’ve had this issue! It just goes to show that there is something terribly wrong with how these houses are built and designed! Their guys came in just to say they wont cover it because it was due to ice dams and it was an act of nature! Upon research I found that ice dams form due to lack of insulation and poor ventilation! And guess who is responsible for that? The builder! There wouldn’t be ice dams if they know what they’re doing! The part that hurts the most? We’ll be in the same predicament each time something like this happens if the root cause is not addressed! If you’re considering purchasing a home with them. Consider this a caution! It will suck the life out of you!
