In September of 2015 we interviewed three invisible pet fence companies for our one acre residence. We needed to find a company that was familiar with cats — not just dogs — because our territorial bengal cat had broken into our dear neighbor’s house and threatened their cat. Thanks to that neighbor’s suggestion, we learned that invisible pet fences are not only for dogs. After interviewing three companies, it was apparent that Dog Watch of Central Connecticut was our top choice. Both Sue and Mark have been exemplary in their knowledge of pet behaviors, their attention to ongoing customer service, their genuine love of animals, and their reasonable price. Observing Mark create the invisible boundary, including on our paved driveway, and observing and learning from Sue how to train our cat, a large part of which she expertly did herself, was an amazing experience — and one we are most grateful to share. Our cat is safe from woods, fields, and traffic, and our neighbor’s cat is safe too! This is one of the best investments we have made in our residence of nearly twenty years!

Hassle free , easy to learn

The process was extremely simple and the team did a great job. They kept us posted throughout the entire work. All was done in less than a day, including the initial training. The system works great, and our dog and us enjoy the newly gained freedom. Would always recommend.

My dog is a skilled escape artist with a Beagle nose. He climbed chainlink fences, dug out of privacy fences, dug under the concrete to prevent him from digging out, used his dog house to jump over fences, and even broke through an invisible dome shocking system. Nothing we could do would keep him in, and we spent hours chasing him. We read really great reviews about DogWatch of Chattanooga and decided to call. Cliff was a lifesaver ! He came out the day we called and gave us an estimate and was back in a couple days to install the wiring. Cliff got it completed in a day !!! He even took the time to train us and our dog on how to use the fence. Our dog has not gotten loose once since Cliff installed. This company and Cliff are lifesavers ! Would highly recommend to anyone !!!

I was uncertain about putting in a hidden fence system and worried that my dogs would be traumatized. I thought it might be cruel to use a shock collar because I didn't want my dogs to be hurt. For 2 months I walked my 3 dogs together and separately several times a day when they needed to go out. My life revolved around walking my dogs. After it became too much to handle I knew something had to give so I compared Invisible Fence and DogWatch. I chose to work with Dogwatch because they seemed to offer more user friendly options. I first met with Afton to learn about the fencing and the cost. She was wonderful to work with and answered all of my many, many, many questions and concerns patiently. The installer, Guy, was great to work with as well. He gave clear instructions about what to do and what NOT to do. (You NEVER force your dog into the shock zone. The collar MUST be snug on the neck). I've been working with my dogs now for about 2 weeks and they are learning the boundaries of the yard. It is an ongoing process. At first one of my dogs became afraid of the yard but I worked with her and showed her that most of the yard was a fun and safe place. Last night she and one of my other dogs were rolling and playing in the grass which was terrific to see. One thing people should know before investing in a hidden fence is that there is ongoing dog training required. You can't just put the collar on your dog and turn them loose. The dogs have to be worked with several times a day. Each dog figures it out at a different pace so it is not a one and done kind of deal. They have to gradually be given opportunities to make mistakes and go after something of high value outside the fence to learn that the boundary area of the fence is not a good place to be. The hardest part for me was to let them make the mistake because I knew they would get a shock. Another thing to keep in mind is that the fence does not keep anything out of the yard. Any other animal can come into your yard and hurt your dogs if they are outside alone. I have small dogs so someone has to be outside with them at all times because we have coyotes, eagles and hawks in the area. We aren't allowed to have a physical fence where we live, though, so DogWatch turned out to be our best option. As the dogs began to learn the boundaries and started enjoying the yard I relaxed and things have gone more smoothly since then. Another great thing is that Guy configured the fence so that the dogs cannot get into the front yard unless I put them there. So they have two separate areas where they can spend time and I have more control over their movements. After having the fence installed Afton has been wonderful about continuing to answer questions and Guy told me that he is available 7 days a week to answer any concerns I have. The cost of the fencing is much lower than a physical fence. Guy and Afton have been more than fair in working with me. I highly recommend them to anyone in the twin cities area.
