We use dogvacay.com to book our weekly walks with our regular dog-walker. While we love the woman who takes care of our pup, booking through this website has some serious drawbacks. The main issue is the surcharges that increase depending on the number of days scheduled. We book 5-days each week (daily weekday walks) and are charged +$10 than we normally would because of the surcharges. This is a little outlandish, considering we have to do this every single week, and the dog-walker isn't cheap on her own. We went from paying $18/walk flat rate to $25/walk PLUS the surcharges, AND we moved outside the city! We are on the hunt for a cheaper option such as finding insurance and paying our current walker directly rather than use the website so we can avoid these fees. Overall: Dogvacay, please consider alternatives for your regular weekly customers. The extra fees are a real bummer.

This was a helpful service in finding a dog sitter for me when I moved into a new community. The fees charged for one dog were appropriate but there is no discount for a second dog on the same booking (as I have always had anywhere else that I've had my dogs staying). As well there is an additional fee (up to $50) to DogVacay for "training" and "screening" of their dog sitters & walkers. I found a great dog sitter but the extra fees made this more than I have ever paid in the past.

2 huge things have really made my experiences with Dog Vacay pretty tough: 1. Sitter availability: The sitters should really keep their calendars on their profiles more accurate. I always look to see if they are available on my date, plus they show up in my search results when i have my dates plugged in....but when i request the sitting, they respond they that they are not available. It would save a ton of time if their calendars were accurate...and they didn't show up in my searches if they really are not available. 2. Responsiveness: Some of your sitters are great and sweet....but technology challenged. Even though when i send a request with all details, dates, etc...they respond with those questions as if I forgot them. So i'm not sure how the request shows up to them, but it seems i end up doing a lot of repetitive briefing on the request. Also, sitters should be required to respond within 8 hours. 24 ours is sometimes too long to wait before needing to know if we need to make other arrangements.

My first experience didn't start well when the people I had made a reservation with, cancelled for no good reason several weeks after being booked. The replacement I found worked out well. She was great with the dogs and sent me emails and pictures every day to let me know they were ok. This was my dogs first experience being away from home so I was a bit apprehensive. I will use DogVacay again.

No one can anticipate an emergency and by cancelling one day late u only refunded bout 40 percent for not even caring for my dogs. Dont know if i will continue using this service.

Since it's been a while since my communication, April 2016. Most of the reps. I spoke with were not very helpful. They either didn't have the answers I needed, or spoke too quickly for me. I have been in Customer Service for many years, this experience was not a smooth one.

My dog had never stayed at anyone's house before this experience. He came home with dog bites requiring debridement & surgery as well as fleas. The saddest part of this is he was older & vulnerable. Make sure you vet your caregiver well. I normally don't complain but it was such a sad experience, I needed to share. Wishing you better luck than I had.

I tried text. No answer. I was little anxious maybe they still sleep during morning hours of dropping off my dog. But it turned up ok.
