DogVacayReviews of dogvacay.com

First I would like to say that DogVacay is the best decision I have made for hiring a sitter for my puppy. Next my first sitter canceled, And I complained, and was helped in finding a new one at the last minute. I do recommend for this company to mandate sitter updates. Together we contacted about 15ish sitters and most of their calendars said they were available and all but 1 said they weren't available. Please do something like mandatory sitter updates weekly or bi weekly.

The platform is pretty easy to use. The biggest issue is that you always have to re-enter your info if you are looking for a different sitter for your dog. It would be better if you had the opportunity for the info to auto-populate. Otherwise, really excellent system and a great community of dogsitters.

We have two dogs and DogVacay has helped us fill the gap in dog sitters. We usually have about 3 we can call but lately, life changes have made them unavailable. it's been super helpful to to connect with vetted families here online. Our experience is that doing a meet & greet is very helpful first to ensure the family is a good fit all around. We have been mostly impressed with how dedicated and loving the families have been. My only complaint is several families have calendars that don't seem to accurately reflect their availability. So when I have a need, it's a cat and mouse game of requesting from one, waiting ye/no, requesting from the next, waiting for a yes/no, requesting from another, waiting until I find someone who is actually free. Naturally you can't request from three at once for fear they all accept. I understand sitters have lives of course and often take dogs outside of this resource - I just wonder if there couldn't be a more efficient process. Anyway in the end it's been great and our dogs have been happy - which is the most important thing!

I messaged quite a few people and one by one was turned down because they were traveling or busy that particular week. I also used another site because it was starting to look hopeless. But I ended up finding a couple close by who were able to watch my dog. The drop-off / pick-up and communications during were effortless. I felt comfortable with how Bailey was treated and tended to while we were out of town.

While the first person I connected with didn't work out, the second person did and they have been an amazing help with my dog.

We love our sitters

I have used DogVacay several times now and have had a great experience with the exception of this last time. Though it was not the fault of DogVacay, I had two cancellations in a row in a very short period of time. Life happens as we all know, but it was quite stressful since it was within a week of my Vacay. I'm not sure what can be done to insure this doesn't happen again, but it tainted my overall experience. On a good note, those I have left my girl with have been extremely responsible. They have provided caring homes with the type of environment I provide at my own home. I much prefer having this service to using a boarding facility that has a general population for the dogs during the day and a cage at night.

I love the idea of "AirBnB" for your dog. Once I signed up, it was easy to find a provider and make arrangements. One disappointment was the number of people who just seem to want some extra money for letting your dog stay at their home while they go about their normal lives. My dog is not used to being alone all day One guy advertised that he worked 5 min. from home so he went home to walk the dog(s) at lunch time. In our second message, before any meet and greet, he told me that he wouldn't go home at lunch time. I know there is a place for providers to note if the dogs will be supervised 24/7, but perhaps you should have categories where they can say "somewhere in between". Or I can filter out those people who work 40 hours a week.
