Great choice for aspnet hosting but lack of support for recent versions of aspnet core. It is also a little bit pricey.
Response from DiscountASP.NETDec 30, 2019
When a new version of .NET Core comes out, we don't blindly install it on our servers. We do some testing and also review what the .NET Community people are reporting back about new versions. Therefore, there will be some time lag before new versions are installed on the server - that is if you want to use Framework-Dependent Deployment (FDD). However, we also support Self-Contained Deployment (SCD) so you can use any version of .NET you want by packaging the required libraries and runtimes for your code. If you have any questions about SCD, just reach out to our technical support team.

needs work
ASP upload is restricted to a ridiculously low amount so one cannot even upload pics from your cellphone. Need to increase the upload level on the base load.
On billing notices the domain name is not listed ...not smart
review says FORMER CUSTOMER?
Response from DiscountASP.NETAug 27, 2018
This former customer most likely did not contact our technical support regarding their issue with ASPUpload. If they had contacted us, our tech support would have increased the upload limit for them. There is a default constraint set that satisfies the vast majority of customers as we do not get many requests for increasing the limit. But we will increase the limit if the customer needs to for their specific use. As for the billing notices, we include the unique Customer ID as the domain name is not a unique identifier since customer's could change the domain name of their account. Customers can also have multiple accounts with us using sub-domains off the same domain name.We are sorry for any confusion with the billing notices. Customers can always contact our Billing Department if they need any clarification on the billing notice.

I feel like DiscountASP.NET is nickle…
I feel like DiscountASP.NET is nickle and diming. A lot of things (url forwarding, databases) that are included int he price at many other hosting places costs a one-time fee (per) here. And it's not that they're very cheap either compared to competitors. They're more middle of the road and closer to expensive for the services they offer.
Also their control panel, though custom, is hard to use and tough to get around in. And it looks very dated.
Otherwise I think it's fine but these things are frustrating and they'll likely end with me switching over to a different host once my discounted period ends. The service isn't worth the money I'd be paying.
Response from DiscountASP.NETJul 2, 2018
We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the value DiscountASP.NET is providing. Our model has always been a la carte.
We believe that you should use the host that gives you the best value for your site. But please do your due diligence. We have had many customers move to a cheaper, all-inclusive host because it seemed like a better deal but their service turned out to be bad so they moved back to us.
We agree that our control panel looks dated - we started building it back in 2003! Our goal is to update it but it's a big undertaking and we can't give any timelines for this project. However, please note that we also do have customers that like the simplicity of the control panel and are asking us not to change it.
If you are shopping around, then you can also look at our cloud hosting solution over at Everleap.com. The base price point there is higher so the base hosting includes a lot of stuff that are add-ons at DiscountASP.NET. Our staff can migrate your site over if you sign up at Everleap..

Good, basic, .NET hosting. But too expensive if you want a database and/or SSL
Setup was very easy. Everything worked 100% well. Hosting was full-trust for .NET applications, as promised.
HOWEVER, I didn't read the fine print closely enough. No database, ZERO, is included in the hosting plan. To get just ONE, you have to double the amount you're paying. (Hosting is $10/month. The database add-on is $10/month as well). Not only that, but you must pre-pay for the entire year, as they match your billing for the add-on to the hosting plan, and I chose the year plan
Fine, so $20/month still isn't that bad, and their stuff still works. However, then I went to add a static-IP/SSL cert to the domain, and found out that was an additional $10/month. I had to have it for the site, so I had to pay. So, for those of you doing the math, that brings my grand total for one year of hosting for a simple .NET site with a single SQL database, and an SSL cert to $30/month x 12 months = $330 (less $30 because you get 3 months hosting free when you sign up).
Its my own fault, I didn't read their hosting plan details closely enough before I signed up. Their stuff works, and has stayed up, and was stupidly easy to setup. But, their price is just WAY too high. For that amount, I could setup my own private or semi-private server (depending on the host) with another host.
I will most likely sign up with peopleshost.com next, as their hosting is only $132/year and the database is INCLUDED with the hosting plan, so I would only be paying $30/year extra for the SSL cert (and I could do "let's encrypt" for free, if I want). Additionally, peopleshost.com let's me add as many domains to my account as I want, unlike many other hosts. As long as my account has space, they don't care. I have already created my account with the other host, and I am basically just waiting until the year I paid for is up before I move. [sigh]
DiscountASP.NET works GREAT if all you need is basic hosting for a .NET site (that doesn't need a database for some reason). $10/month is a good deal for what they offer, and for how well it works. BUT, if you need a database and/or an SSL cert, they have basically priced themselves out of that market. From what I can see from their pricing and policies, they don't want to be IN that market. Oh well, c'est la vie

I'm sorry that the cost of our hosting solution did not work out for you. We would recommend checking out our Cloud Hosting solution over at Everleap.com - where the hosting starts at $20/mo and includes SQL and SSL support. You can always find cheaper hosting, but don't assume that the hosting system is the same. If you are interested in migrating to Everleap, reach out to our tech support and they can help you out.

Generally good service
Generally good service, and support. Only a question about closing tickets; Of course, one of your metrics is to check how fast tickets get closed, though in some cases the urgency to close the ticket seems to supercede the urge to actually bring the problem to a true resolution. If the support person can't solve the problem I recommend you have a team of 'super experts' who can be referred to in such a case. This would be better than receiving a "I don't know about this" kind of answer, together with the automated email that states the ticket is going to be closed.
Response from DiscountASP.NETOct 15, 2017
We do escalate tickets from our Support team to higher levels of support (system administrators, etc.) if necessary. We may close tickets if we don't receive a response within a couple of days. But, of course, you can always reply to a closed ticket, which will automatically put it back to Active status.
I looked over your ticket history and it seems like all the issues were resolved. If you do have any unresolved issue, please let us know!

Great features but poor browsing experience.
Great price, great feature set. However the browsing experience is a bit lacking. Requests timeout too often for my liking.
Response from DiscountASP.NETJun 29, 2016
Thanks Arthur. If your site is timing out it's likely an issue with your application. Have you contacted support? They can help you troubleshoot.

Ok Web Host
Needs live telephone tech support. Had a few service outages this year. Ok hosting for the price.
Response from DiscountASP.NETDec 9, 2014
Hi Mike. We know it's unusual, but when we started DiscountASP.NET we were all about efficiency (and we still are). Everyone here had already worked in the hosting industry, and we saw things that we thought could be improved. One of those things was the way support was done. Having said that, we know that a lot of people expect phone support and are surprised when they find that we don't do things that way. For the record, support staff does make outgoing calls when they believe it's in the interest of expediting a resolution. It goes back to the efficiency ideal. We appreciate you taking the time out to give a review, thanks.
