This is not the Dior customer service I came to know and trust
I have been a loyal Dior customer for years, and what makes this experience particularly disappointing is that this is not the Dior customer service I came to know and trust. In the past, the way Dior handled customer service issues was actually one of the reasons I admired the brand and felt confident purchasing directly from Dior. Unfortunately, the difference in the level of care, communication and accountability I have experienced recently is striking. I placed and paid for my order on September 6. The order included items intended as a birthday gift. When the package was not delivered, an investigation was opened with UPS. I understand perfectly well that delivery problems can happen and that Dior cannot control every action taken by a carrier. What Dior could control, however, was how it treated its customer while the problem was being investigated and how quickly it acted to make that customer whole. Dior did not send a replacement while the investigation was ongoing. I had to wait for weeks while UPS completed its investigation. I know how that process progressed because I received communications related to the investigation. Only after UPS concluded the investigation and indicated that Dior would be reimbursed did Dior finally proceed with replacing the merchandise I had already paid for on September 6. During all that time, I was without the products I had already paid for. One of them was supposed to be a birthday gift, which I was unable to give on time because of this situation. What made the experience even worse was the lack of communication. I repeatedly contacted Dior asking for updates and a resolution, and at a certain point my emails simply went unanswered. I had to continue pursuing the matter myself until I was finally able to reach someone through live chat. I ultimately received the items I had purchased on October 1 — 25 days after placing and paying for the order. During my conversation with Dior through live chat, I was also assured that a pouch previously offered to me by Dior would be sent. Ironically, that pouch had originally been offered as a courtesy following an earlier service issue with Dior. After everything that had already happened with this order, I was explicitly told it would be sent, and I believed Dior was finally honoring what had been promised. Now I have been informed that this is still “processing” and that I should allow another nine business days. And I want to be very clear about something: I am not writing this review because of a pouch. A pouch is not the issue. The issue is commitment. The issue is communication. The issue is respect for the customer and honoring what your company has told that customer it will do. When a company offers something to address a previous mistake and then fails to honor that commitment without the customer repeatedly chasing it, the monetary value of the item becomes irrelevant. It becomes a question of whether the customer can trust what the company says. Likewise, my frustration over the original order is not simply that UPS failed to deliver it. Shipping problems happen. My frustration is that I had already paid Dior, yet I spent weeks without my merchandise while Dior waited for the carrier's investigation to conclude, repeatedly had to seek information myself, missed the birthday for which one of the products had been purchased, and ultimately received my paid merchandise only on October 1. That is the experience I am reviewing. As a long-time customer, this is especially disappointing because I know Dior is capable of providing a much higher standard of service. I have experienced it before. That standard of care was one of the reasons Dior earned my loyalty in the first place, which makes the change I have experienced recently even more noticeable. To me, luxury is not simply a prestigious name, beautiful packaging or an expensive product. Luxury is also respect, accountability, good faith and the way a company treats its customers when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, this experience has fallen far below the standard I associated with Dior and has genuinely changed the way I view a brand I have admired and supported for years. I expected considerably better from Dior.
