Defense Tax acts like they have your best interest but just want your money.
First they acted like they were local and the were not. Second they promised to immediately work on case and they didnt
Lastly, they never answer, calls text or emails but pressure ypu for payment right off.
Do not let this company scame you.

And was passed of 3 times to different case workers. Now I'm out of work since they didnt live up to their agreement.. Fender Martin calls me and threaten me not to reach out to this company anymore and if I do a police report will be made🤔😡🤬. Take my money and threaten me really?!?! Oh ok. Not cool

“Not How This Works”
I started talking to Jeff Casperson from Defense Tax sometime in 2020. An accountant was still preparing my taxes at the time, so I couldn’t hire Defense Tax yet. Jeff continued to check in about once a month.
At some point during those phone calls, Jeff said Defense Tax would likely be able to get the debt down to “5%”. I thought to myself he was obviously overselling the service, but if he was willing to throw numbers like 5% around, the reduction would be substantial. I would hire Defense Tax in 2021.
The first person I dealt with after hiring Defense Tax was a woman named Carla Sterling, and what followed was months of not hearing from anyone from Defense Tax, peppered by urgent emails requesting information in a seemingly nonsensical order, with no answers as to what was going on, or where in the process I was.
After over a year of this, my frustration grew to the point where I no longer wanted to deal with Carla. That’s when I was turned over to a man named Joel Lockhart.
In the rare instances I spoke to Joel, it didn’t take long for him to tell me “That’s not how this works.” in reference to my debt being reduced. He indicated that the best I could hope for was a “Can Not Collect” status from the IRS.
Keep in mind that the first thing you see on Defense Tax’s website is a section called “Why Call Us?”. The first bullet point in that section says, “Settle Your IRS Tax Debt for a fraction owed”, followed by “Remove Interest Charges and Penalties”.
I’d like to know how many people are told “5%” by someone like Jeff, only to be told years later by someone like Carla or Joel that that’s “Not how this works.”?
In 2023, Joel emailed me to tell me that my “CNC” had been approved. I spoke to him one more time after that, and I asked him if Defense Tax had even tried to get me an “Offer in Compromise”. He indicated that they hadn’t, and upon my insistence, since that was the entire point of this whole thing, he told me he would.
I let the now typical months go by with no update before I emailed him again. Nothing. I called. Nothing. Joel had put me on a Pay No Mind list.
I called the Defense Tax website number one more time, and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told no supervisor was available. When I said I’d wait, the person who I was talking to said they wouldn’t, and I was told a supervisor would call me back. They didn’t.
It’s now almost four years since I hired Defensive Tax. In that time, the interest and penalties on the debt have gone up thousands of dollars. Defense Tax has not done what they promised to do, both by Jeff and their own website, and they didn’t even have the spine to tell me that, as far as they are concerned, services had been rendered.

Buyers beware…
Buyers beware…
I called with tax concerns to the local address phone number in TX yesterday 6/22/2023 and was rerouted to “the home office” in LA, California. I asked specifically for who would handle what with what credentials. I asked the interviewer- Randy- what his credentials were. No answer.
I was emailed a legal contract with two peoples’ names.
I asked who they were. I was told I could do my due diligence. “I will not be giving you the credentials of everyone licensed in this office”. Google search- not lawyers. I literally asked for a lawyer’s name. I called back through a different city office, the local Dallas number 6/23/2023, to see if there was someone to meet in person, and the phone call was redirected to California again, not a real office in Dallas, and spoke with Marcos, who knew I called the day before when he saw my phone number (different phone numbers dialed by me), then was shouted at and ignored. They record all phone calls. They should review this- total ignorance and not listening, patronizing. This is within 18 hours of asking for help.
Bottom line-
The addresses listed online as local are not real. No one is there.
Read the BBB complaints- this is the problem. Delays, non-responding, condescending, unanswered questions about people’s bills and lives- this is terrible service.
Do not contact this company if you expect to work with a real lawyer/real person who cares or responds with the truth or facts, or if you expect to meet anyone in person, know their credentials, or have personal contact with a plan explained. That is what I asked for.
Absolutely do not recommend.
I will happily share the screen shots of these text conversations.
When I told them I would not be working with them and was very disappointed, the response was -
“The feeling is mutual”. Screen shot. All of it.
The person requesting help cannot know who is helping them and their credentials?

Do not waste your time and money
Just like another reviewer said, "This company is buying FAKE REVIEWS on Google, Trustpilot, Trustlink, and BBB. Very shady business practices. " Please do yourself a big favor by not calling this company because it's the worst company to find a tax attorney. There is no attorney to speak to, only some workers taking your calls and replying the emails. They are NOT tax attorneys, but they will not hesitate to charge you attorney fees and you will receive no service. I complained about no progress after a month, they did nothing and would not refund me.
I was asked to pay $1500 when I called. Without a consultation with the attorney, Jeff Casperson said I must pay for the case to be evaluated. I paid him and waited for 2 weeks. No one contacted me. I checked with Jeff. He said they were able to confirm the amounts I owed IRS and FTB, and that was it! I already received the notices from IRS and FTB. I didn't need to spend $1500 for someone to VERIFY the amounts I owed. I needed a tax attorney to fight the taxes I did not owe. BTW, the IRS transcript only takes a few minutes to obtain. The so-called "research" they charged me for was an excuse to rip me off. It had no value.
I believed my case was not reviewed at all. I emailed Jeff and he said the tax attorney would get back to me soon. After a few days, I received an email from "Elizabeth Batchelor, Tax Attorney ". She requested some tax information and I replied to her right away with documents she requested. I waited for 2 weeks but she never contacted me again. I searched online and found out "Elizabeth Batchelor" was not a registered attorney at California State Bar. So she was an attorney or not? I asked Jeff to provide her license number but he just ignored me. He said I could hire another law firm if I liked.
How can someone call herself a "tax attorney" without a license? It is fraudulent. Be very careful before you pay. They have no tax attorney to help you. They won't give you a refund.

Mrs. Huang, We are sorry to hear about your experience, but disagree with almost everything you stated and have all the documents to show that your review is false.
We have never paid a person to make a review and your claims that was done is false and slanderous. We welcome you to prove that false statement. We have helped over 10,000 people save over 1 billion dollars, so not sure where you are getting your facts from.
We will also remind you that we take our online reputation seriously and making false and slanderous statements is liable and cause for litigation.
You hired us to perform an compliance check for you with the state and the IRS. We completed both of those for you and gave you the results.
You then proceeded to charge back your payment and breach your legal and binding contract.
You have acted in bad faith every step of the way and we did exactly as we were contracted for. You signed your contract that outlined the scope of our services.
Lastly, Elizabeth Batchelor is her married name; bar license is Elizabeth Brown and she is licensed in both Illinois and Florida. An attorney with a bar license can practice federal tax law in all 50 states and practice tax resolution in all states, except Oregon, not that you took the time to ask.

This company is buying FAKE REVIEWS on Google, Trustpilot, Trustlink, and BBB. Very shady business practices. Do not do business with them!
