Don’t really want to be writing this…
Don’t really want to be writing this but I feel the need to hopefully get some quicker answers and responses. I have the deeper quest bait boat and I took the boat to my syndicate lake. The maps deeper use is from a company called open street maps which hasn’t been updated or corrected to follow my lake. The boat thought it was on land when it wasn’t. There was no gps issue it was just the maps. I was informed by Andrew the following “ So, once the map of the lake gets updated on openstreetmap - it will also update on the FishDeeper app. It's not us who need to update the map of the lake, but rather the map provider.” I paid for someone to professionally update the openstreetmap as it’s a very technical and time consuming process. I then contacted Andrew and explained it’s been changed and could take 24-48 hours to update. I asked him will automatically update now as his previous email stated I quote “ once the map of the lake gets updated on openstreetmap- it will also update on the FishDeeper app.” now to be informed this email back. “ Thanks for the clarification. Yes, it should update. I'll check with our developers to try and understand how long it will take to update on our systems (it's certainly not an instance process). I'll get back to you as soon as I have more info.” I’m sorry but it’s terrible customer service and experience. He’s completely contradict himself and lied to me regarding it. I’m not very happy at all and it seems he’s the only person who responds to emails. I thought my question was to the technical support team anyways? I would really appreciate someone to investigate this situation and issue as soon as possible and get back to me regarding it so I can turn this negative situation/review into a positive outcome. I have recently done a review on my TikTok (ca11umsfishing) and which has been positive and I don’t really want to be doing a part 2 which is negative. Kind regards Callum Everitt
Response from DeeperApr 25, 2025
Thank you for sharing your experience - we’re genuinely sorry to hear about your frustration, and we fully understand how important accurate maps are for making the most of your Deeper Quest Bait Boat. We appreciate the chance to respond and clarify the situation. The maps used in our FishDeeper app are provided by OpenStreetMap (OSM), which is a global community-driven project used by many platforms like Garmin, Strava, and others. Since OSM is maintained by contributors, there can occasionally be inaccuracies in less popular or private lakes - like the outline (border) of your syndicate lake. We completely respect the effort you took in arranging for the lake's borders to be updated on OpenStreetMap, and we appreciate you taking the time to improve the map data. However, it’s important to clarify that syncing updates from OSM to our FishDeeper app is handled by another third-party service, and the timing of these updates depends on many factors, including the nature and scale of the changes made in OSM. Unfortunately, this process is not instant and isn’t directly controlled by us. We are not in touch with that service provider to understand the ETA of when the map change sync can be expected. As of now, we’ve checked, and the outline of your lake still hasn’t been updated on OpenStreetMap - it appears unchanged. Until those updates are reflected in OSM itself, they won’t appear in our app either. To help in the meantime, I’d like to remind you that you can view your depth maps at https://maps.fishdeeper.com, where you have the option to switch to a satellite map view - which may offer a more accurate visual reference for your lake, regardless of the OpenStreetMap outline. As for the support experience, I’d like to apologize if my responses felt unclear or inconsistent. It was never my intention to cause confusion. I’ve tried to be transparent throughout this process, but I fully understand how this delay feels disappointing. We’re grateful for your support and for sharing your experiences, including your positive TikTok review - it really means a lot to us. If there’s anything else I can help with, or if you’d like to discuss further options, feel free to reach out directly. We’re here to assist.
