I am very disappointed at David’s bridal store in Costa Mesa, CA and wanted to warn others. My daughter and I went to David’s Bridal last month to look for her wedding dress. After a few trials, she chose her dress. The sales person ordered size 2 and said that would be better to order bigger than smaller as it’s easier to do alterations. My daughter even mentioned again... I am size zero. I (mother of the bride) was so emotional seeing my daughter getting her wedding dress in our first appointment that I did not think to ask if there was any additional charge to do alteration. I guess because the sales person mentioned alterations like it was not a problem so many times. We went yesterday for the first fitting. To our surprise the cost of alterations was almost 80% of the price of the dress. This is absurd...a total rip-off. 1st of all they should advise customers there is an additional charge for alterations. 2nd of all, they should order the dress size that the bride wears. My daughter even mentioned that she should order size zero. That was when the sales person advised to go a number up. Of course, they will charge you a lot for the alteration. It’s absurd the price they charged for such small alterations. Furthermore, even though the sales person was very nice to us, she mentioned she was at her job for a week. We were either misled by a new sales person or she was trained to sell a dress bigger size and advertise that alteration is not a problem so they could make money on the alterations too. I would not mind to pay for alteration if they had mentioned up front that it was an additional charge in case alteration is needed however, beside not warning us, what they charged for is outrageous. I feel my daughter and I were ripped of. We ended up paying for almost another dress. I regret paying them to do the alterations. We should take somewhere else to do it. A moment that should be very happy turned out to be very unpleasant. Therefore, I would like to share our experience with others... be aware, they will trick you. This wasn’t a pleasant experience as we were rushed through our appointment. Turns out we were allocated an hour appointment for 4 bridesmaids which the bride was not aware of. Our sample dresses were of poor quality, broken zips and burst seams. Although our server was pleasant I feel she was under pressure with the time allocated. We left empty handed after our conveyor belt experience. Unfortunately this approach was not suitable for us.

I just left David’s bridal and it took an hour for me to get pinned just for my alterations and I paid more than I even paid for the dress for my alterations I HIGHLY suggest going somewhere else for alterations! Standing straight for an hour not moving in heels is hell and they charge insanely!!!

Davids Bridal (WATFORD) Considering it was my first ever visit to a bridal store and the staff knew this, their customer service was SHOCKING. Any brides out there, PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME going to this store. The staff made me wait 15 minutes and did not greet me positively or with any excitement. The dress choices are shocking. They are a mix of dated/ discoloured and just very run of the mill, boring and distasteful. When leaving the store, the lady offered no apology, no suggestions of dresses and just stood (slumped) and was incredibly lazy with her body language and words and was chewing gum! (DISAPPOINTING AND DISGRACEFUL). It is a shame as the lady who responded to my email booking was a delight. On a positive, note ALWAYS AND FOREVER in Hounslow brightened up my day and added so much sparkle and sensation to it. Their service / dresses and everything were absolute perfection.

Dress price is good but al my bridesmaid dresses need alterations and I ended up paying double of what I planned... not happy

I had a really terrible experience with David’s Bridal UK. There were two significant errors in my bridesmaid dresses including a shoulder strap being sewn on twisted. After struggling to get through to the correct person, I was told to email them with proof of the error. The employee returned my email in an assertive and defensive manner, inferring that I was at fault for not picking up on the error at collection- what a bizarre quality control process! They did not apologise once, I had to prompt them! The quality of the dresses are not worth the money and David’s Bridal are profit not customer focused- I would not recommend them.

I make my own clothing and manage a Costume Designer. I will never shop here again unless I am forced to. I did not have terribly high hopes for the Bridesmaids dresses at David’s Bridal. I know they are mass produced and use lower quality materials so that they can deliver an inexpensive garment to the general public. What I did not expect was sheer incompetence and a system designed to UPSELL its unknowing clients on things like accessories and alterations. I specifically made an appointed because I was promised a dedicated, knowledgeable, stylist and a dedicated dressing room. I did get the dressing room. I DID NOT get a dedicated and knowledgeable stylist. I got Eve. Eve spent 20 min trying to find my size even though I came prepared with my own measurements. Eve tried to sell me a Vera Wang dress and tell me it was Silk Chiffon when the tag clearly said 100% Polyester. She was essentially trying to sell me a plastic dress for $199.95. When asked about the material make up of another dress, she replied with "its mesh”. Mesh is a style of fabric, NOT a composition of fabric. While Eve was helping me she was also helping another woman who was a mother of a groom. It was very clear from those of us watching this lovely woman try on gowns that she was clearly uncomfortable with her shoulders and arms being exposed. Eve did not pick up on this at all. When the poor woman asked for a cover up, Eve brought her this thin, piece of fabric that David's Bridal calls a wrap. This clearly was not going to do the trick and the woman had to ask AGAIN for something more significant. When I went to check out, Eve handed my order over to the lovely gal at the register. When this new gal went to summarize my order she said size 14. I quickly corrected her by saying I was a size 10. Had I not been paying attention, I would have gotten a gown that was 4 sizes too big and would have had to pay them to have it altered. Stylists are supposed to be knowledgeable, insightful and skilled enough to see a body type/customers wants and need and make suggestions that will make the client feel amazing. Eve was not any of these even though she had been working there for two years. I do not know if Eve is an example or and exception of the quality of service at David's bridal but when I have asked other about their experiences at this chain, I have not heard good things. If you want cheap, cookie cutter dresses then this is the place for you. Just pay close attention to everything otherwise you will end up paying for something you don't want.

I went to David's Bridal at Westfield Stratford City as it stocked petite sizes. However I fell for a dress that didn't offer petite and so accepted would need altering. After a very detailed measuring and discussion to check it could be altered, they ordered the dress taking 50% deposit. It was quite a hard sell and I was very concerned after I had left the store as to whether I had done the right thing. To my horror when I did go to my appointment to try on the dress it was huge, definitely a size too big. They were insistent that I needed this bigger size for them to alter it down, but the style of the bodice would not allow such a massive alteration, in my opinion. I was surrounded by the manager, the sales assistant and the one I had originally seen all persuading me I was quite wrong and that they had ordered the right size. Basically, I had to pay up and shut up as they refused to return it and order the next size down. I lost out on £1000 and the outcome was that I bought another dress at my local wedding dress shop, for less money and with a much more enjoyable experience. They were helpful, no hard sell and the alteration (just height) was perfect. Do not be persuaded to buy a dress under pressure like I was, from David's Bridal. Please go to your local wedding shop.
