Reflecting on a Recent Encounter--A Call for Empathy and Integrity in Pharmacy. Where's The Love? Today, I want to share a personal experience that has deeply troubled me, highlighting a decline in the professional camaraderie, empathy, and respect that should be the cornerstone of our profession as pharmacists. While traveling and staying near a CVS Pharmacy in Hollywood, Florida on North Federal Hwy, I, a fellow CVS employee and pharmacist, found myself in need of a crucial maintenance medication that I had accidentally left at home. Expecting the usual supportive environment we pride ourselves on, I reached out to this CVS location for a simple medication transfer. However, what ensued was far from the standard of care and support I anticipated. After an extensive wait on the phone, which I attributed to potential short-staffing issues, the interaction with the pharmacist was disappointingly dismissive and unhelpful. Despite attempting to explain my situation and clarify that I didn't wish to disrupt my existing prescription arrangements in California, I was met with a brusque response that lacked any semblance of understanding or willingness to assist. The situation escalated when I visited the pharmacy in person, only to be denied my medication at the last moment and advised to visit a 24-hour CVS location without any guidance or support in locating it. The pharmacist did not step in! The pharmacist himself took my call and understood the urgency. He stayed hidden and did not show his face. I could easily see that this is the culture in this pharmacy department. This experience not only caused me significant distress, indicated by a concerning spike in my heart rate, but also left me questioning the current state of our profession. This incident stands in stark contrast to the Oath of a Pharmacist we all pledge to, which emphasizes the welfare of humanity, relief of suffering, and the importance of empathy and integrity in our practice Oath of a Pharmacist. It's disheartening to witness colleagues who seem to have lost sight of these fundamental values, prioritizing task completion over genuine patient care. I am grateful to Mrs. Matthews and Dr. Keagan for their eventual assistance, embodying the professional values we hold dear. Yet, this experience compels me to ask: What has become of our profession? How can we reignite the passion for pharmacy that is rooted in compassion, empathy, and support for one another and our patients? Let this serve as a call to action for all of us in the pharmacy community. We must reflect on our practices, attitudes, and the culture within our workplaces. It's imperative that we strive to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ensuring that empathy and integrity are not just words in our oath but principles that guide our every interaction. Today, I received my 5th message to pick up and I've been back in my home state a week. Seems they filled the script as damage control because they can tell I put it up at the 25 minute Uber drive to the 24 hour location the district leader had to send me in the middle of the night. Just do better and RTS that TRANSFER! I would call but I'd be on hold 45 minutes.

Called my local CVS to check on a prescription. The weekend pharmacist was the most obnoxious individual I have ever spoken to. What really made things worse was being informed that my doctor cancelled the remaining renewals on the prescription I called about. Since I am part of a conceirge medical practice, I texted my doctor. He returned a call in under five minutes. He was absolutely incredulous that CVS said the prescription was cancelled. Then he related how it has happened to other patients, his wife’s and himself. Stock holders of CVS Health Corporation need to start a proxy fight to kick out the management team and replace them with individuals that know something about customer service.

The place should be closed! They lose perscritions, their app is worthless, they fail to call or text when there is a problem. And I truly believe they withhold medication because they can. Medicare should look into the Cambridge Ohio Branch. I pay to much to be treated like dirt!

Hire people who know the meaning of empathy. They have the absolute worst customer service I've ever encountered. I tried logging into my on-line account to delete my deceased wife's information and add my new new wife's name and and step-son only to be rebuffed that my step-son's data did not match their records. I finally phoned customer service and was transferred three times only to speak to a customer service representative who asked to speak to my deceased wife to verify that she wanted to be deleted. Over the space of four separate calls and approximately three hours I was finally able to make some simple updates. How they received a 1.11 rating has to rank with the miracle of Christ raising Lazarus from the tomb. Hope that you never have to use customer service from this inept company

I just want my prescriptions!!! CVS in Conway, AR. is terrible. Oh how I would love to have Walgreens again but my insurance will not cover it. It’s an ongoing battle. My doctor says he sends them, they say he doesn’t. It has never been an issue before at Walgreens.

I am so frustrated with CVS. My meds are rarely refilled on time, even though they are on automatic refill. They do not keep my seizure medication in stock, so every month, I have to go about a week, sometimes a little longer without my seizure medication. CVS has caused so much stress and more seizures. I am not going here anymore. DO NOT GO TO CVS. You will not be happy with there services or pharmacy.
