CVS won’t fill seizure control medication on time
I take phenobarbital for seizures control, and have taken it for over 30 years. Because CVS lists it as a controlled substance (even though it was used during the Civil War), CVS refuses to fill it a week early. Because they have not had it in stock TWICE now over the last 12 months, there were two delays of a week each time. Due to their out-of-stock error, and due to their 90-day policy, they will only fill it, coincidentally, the very day I run out. That means I can’t even plan a vacation during the end of every three-month block. If we have a blizzard, or if I have a flat tire, I’m in big trouble. If they are out of stock again, I will definitely have a seizure. Perhaps multiple seizures. So now I am forced to reduce my dosage on weekends (during which time I know I can’t risk driving a car), in order to stockpile a safe cache, because of their flawed policy. My doctor has done everything she can and can’t get past this ridiculous policy at CVS. I would like to introduce my own policy that all pharmacies MUST carry medication that has been filled for anyone in the previous 12 months. If I do have a seizure at home, the fault is entirely on CVS because I have no other alternative.
