Their site promises guaranteed delivery but they never ship the item out. Customer service is horrible and you are on hold for over 30 min before you speak to someone. I intend to report this company to consumer affairs for false advertising. Now I am having trouble getting a refund.

I wish I read the reviews on this company before I spent $250 and waited and waited and waited for my package to come at the "GUARANTEED" date. I ordered my costumes for my entire family and thought it would come in time for a Halloween event because it was supposedly "GUARANTEED" 4 days ago and when I called, the customer service rep said it hasn't even been shipped yet!!! What?! Why?!! He said because they are backed up. I ordered my costumes 2 weeks ago!!! Then I asked to cancel my order and he said he'll email a request to his boss. ????? What?!? They are total scam artists!! I said oh trust me, you're gonna cancel my order because you're not getting my $!!! Luckily for me, I paid with my American Express and they immediately put a hold on this transaction and will not pay these lying scam artists! Save your time, money, and frustration!!! I wish I did!!

I have just had what must be my absolute worst online buying experience ever with costumexpress.com. I ordered the popular Star Wars costumes for my two boys. Immediately, I received an email stating that the items were in stock and that shipping would be guaranteed on Oct. 19. Last night, (Oct. 19), my order had not been shipped. I contacted costumer service today (Oct 20) and the lady told me the same thing other have reported here: "the order is being packed right now", "we'll let you know when it had left the warehouse"... They immediately offered to refund me the shipping costs, but would not give me a definite answer as to delivery date. Their ambiguity made me think twice. They either do not to understand the difference between the shipping date and the delivery date, or they are deliberately trying to mislead the consumer. After asking 3 times, they finally agreed to cancel my order (they did tell me that it could not be done, even when the items were still sitting in the warehouse, by her own admission). I am not holding my breath.

I ordered a costume over a month ago on pre-order. I changed my mind and called to cancel weeks before it was expected to ship. They said they would cancel it (although the customer service rep tried to talk me out of it three times!) and I'd get a confirmation email that they cancelled the order. They NEVER cancelled my order or sent a cancellation confirmation, charged my card, and sent it anyway. SHIFTY BUSINESS PRACTICES! As a grad student working part time at a nonprofit, I'm sure you needed my money more than I did.

DISCLAIMER: If I could give 0 stars I would however since I have to pick something it's a 1. I ordered a costume on 9/13 for my son. It came within a week's time which was not a problem since I ordered it well in advance of Halloween. When it came my son decided that he did not like it so I called customer service to get a return authorization number. I was put on hold for over an hour, dealing with a person for whom English was clearly not their first language. I was told that they would not provide a free return shipping label and wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount to send the items back. Clearly their hope is that you figure it's cheaper to just keep the items and not go through the trouble to return anything. I chose to ship it back myself via UPS and eventually was given the return authorization by a supervisor. I was told as soon as they received the items back my credit card would be refunded. I tracked the package on UPS and saw that it was delivered to their warehouse and signed for so at that point I threw out my tracking information. 4 weeks later I have yet to receive my credit. I called Costume Express last night and spent another hour on hold to be told by completely inept employees that they do not see that the package was sent back. I was told numerous times by their customer service people (although I say customer service lightly as there is none) that they could not issue me a credit without the items returned and perhaps I could provide them the tracking number. I expressed my dissatisfaction and disbelief as I feel that my responsibility ends when a package is signed for by their warehouse. Needless to say another hour wasted and still no credit. Just extreme aggravation. I have now contacted my credit card company to dispute the charges and hope that I will finally have some resolution. Bottom line, i will NEVER purchase from Costume Express ever again and will be certain to spread the word to everyone I know.

...and I would like to continue beating that drum. Ordered Halloween costume on 10-6, was processed that day with email confirmation I would get it no later than 10-13. 10-16 I called Cu Serv. and after 20min. hold ,a nice lady answered the call. Confirmation email was supposed to be sent to me acknowledging shipment by 10-9. Nope! Was told by CS agent that order was found and would be processed that day with EXPEDITED shipping and a refund on my shipping since it had not been SHIPPED by promised DELIVERY date. I stated I need it by 22nd due to party being on 25th, not Halloween. She said all should be ok. Contacted CS again today (10-19) since not receiving confirmation of shipment yet. I was told by another CS agent it was being packaged for shipping right now. I asked "since I ordered on 6th to avoid rush before Halloween , why has it not shipped?" Unable to answer.... Was told probably not get it by 25th. Well, that means it will be useless till next year, so I stated "cancel the order and credit my card". Was told processing has been started and can't be cancelled. Hmmmm......not processed for shipping but processed for payment. Well I use paypal and they will handle this no-count website for me and I will get credit as they will debit CostumeExpress for that amt. Can't give NO STAR rating so faced with giving 1.

I placed an order for the whole family on 10/4/15 and said I would have it delivered to my house 10/12/15. It is 10/19/15 and my order still hasnt been shipped. I requested a full cancelation. Don't waste your time trying to order costumes from these yahoos. I will never order anything from them again.

I ordered my daughters costume on October 11 I was given a GAURENTEED delivery date of October 19. I checked my email on Friday still says order processing I called them Saturday and was on hold for 45 mins before giving up and hanging up. I called today and waited on hold for another 30 mins before someone finally answered I told her my situation saying the order was supposed be delivered today she put me on hold came back and said it was shipped today at 12:06 am I told her that was not ok. She offered to refund my $5 shipping fee I told her I haven't received anything with a tracking number and I don't trust that my order shipped she then promised a full refund and I could keep my items I asked her when I would receive my money (I didn't trust it) she said 3-4 weeks I told her you are able to take my money out the second I order but it takes 3-4 weeks she said she had to request it I then told her I wanted my money back now (I just didn't believe her) she put me on hold 5 mins later came back saying she couldn't give me a refund but could give me an additional discount on my next order I said I most definately will not be ordering again I want something else finally agreed to giving me a portion of what I paid back and I will receive it in 3-5 days (we will see). I really wish I had read the reviews before ordering. Please find another site.
