Based on a Costco travel ad, I rented a truck from Budget Truck rental. It was a horrible experience that just got worse and worse for many days. It deserved a full refund. I called Costco right from the start to ask them to help. They contacted Budget and told me if budget didn't make it right, they could get me at least some help with a Costco gift card.
Their emails were no help. Costco simply relayed Budgets denials to me, even though the budget rep gave false info. I did all the work in contacting Budget multiple times, and fought hard to get a partial refund, but Costco said they were the ones who had gone above and beyond for me.
I originally told Costco I would accept their offer of a card, but we should wait to see what Budget offered me. (It didn't feel honest to accept a card if Budget gave me a full refund.) But when I told them I only got a partial refund, Costco said they would not give me any Costco gift card. I only took Budget's less than right offer because of the promise Costco had made.
So much for trusting people

do not use costco travel for rental…poor service from costco travel
do not use costco travel for rental cars, I booked directly thru Enterprise and got the best rate. Costco travel said I could get additional discount thru them but never sent me the email confirmation. I called twice to get confirmation and spent 1 hour on the phone to find out it was cheaper thru Enterprice directly. I will never trust costco travel again.

COSTCO TRAVEL GUARANTEES SATISFACTION. * LOL...
COSTCO TRAVEL GUARANTEES SATISFACTION, Now thats a Joke. Had a terrible experience with Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows in Maui Hawaii booked through COSTCO travel. We spent $12K on this vacation and it was one from hell. COSTCO TRAVEL in so many words said your satisfaction means nothing.....It is really all about the money. be cautious when purchasing.

I cannot recommend Costco travel
I cannot recommend Costco travel. I booked a trip through them and they not only did not adequately address my concerns, they refused to allow me to write a review of my experience. Only positive reviews are allowed it seems.

NEVER AGAIN. Nope Costco Travel. Bye AVIS.
We rented a car from AVIS, through Costco.
Our experience, in a word: TERRIBLE. And yes I called Costco Travel when we first got to the airport and all this craziness kicked off. They "opened a ticket" for me. They've done nothing since.
We were traveling from NYC to Anchorage with our two small children. We made our car reservation on May 10, for August 3. Arriving on 8/3, after our flight was delayed two hours, we were told "your car isn't ready YET. It's still being cleaned." We were exhausted, and needed to keep moving with our kids. We asked "how much longer will it be for any car comparable to what we reserved to be ready?" We were "at least 2 hours, BUT you could upgrade! right now! to a car that IS available." Of course. The car company shakedown. What choice did we have? So we upgraded.
On 5/10 we reserved and paid for two car seats. At the counter on 8/3, we were told "oh, they may not have any car seats downstairs." What? We already paid to have/use them. "Oh, well, it's first come first serve." Really? Because your policy actually says "You can request car seats for both infants and toddlers when reserving a rental car from Avis," and "Book Early to reserve," and "When you book your reservation online, you will be able to designate which type of car seat you would like and for how long. " Which we did AND WERE CHARGED FOR. So we had to go to Target and buy car seats. The charge for the car seats - that AVIS did not have and did not give us - remained on our bill for weeks. It was finally removed as a "solution" to what we'd been put through.
THEN, on our drive from the airport to Homer (the day we got the car), I notice a tiny spiderweb crack waaaaaay up high on the passenger windscreen in front of me. Over the course of our trip, I document as it grows. It was there the whole time. We were given a car with a tiny windscreen crack that grew and grew. When we returned the car to the airport on 8/12, we pointed it out. No reason to hide it. Now you want to charge me - on top of charging me for an upgrade I didn't want, and car seat rentals you never fulfilled, and the car seats I then had to buy - for damage that wasn't ours.
WHAT? I will never rent from AVIS again, I'm telling everyone I know to avoid your company like the plague, and I'm leaving this review everywhere I can find to put it. AVIS is the actual worst, you added so much unnecessary stress to the start of a family trip, you endangered the welfare of my children, you shook us down for an upgrade, you didn't follow your own car seat policy, and now you're charging us well over $1000 for damage we did not cause. Terrible. Just never again, no thank you.

I will never book with Costco Travel…
I will never book with Costco Travel again.
Three couples booked the same Celebrity Cruises sailing under the same conditions. For legitimate reasons, all three couples had to cancel. The other two couples received credits toward a future cruise, while we lost our entire deposit.
Costco Travel has been unable to explain why we were treated differently, despite all three reservations being subject to the same conditions. I expected Costco Travel to advocate on our behalf and ensure that all three couples were treated fairly and consistently. Unfortunately, they failed to go to bat for us.
This experience has been extremely disappointing. Fairness and customer support matter most when problems arise, and Costco Travel let us down on both counts.
It is quite obvious they don't care about their customers. Use a travel agent that has a genuine interest in their customers.

My sister and I booked a Paris and…
My sister and I booked a Paris and Florence trip through Costco Travel. This was supposed to be a 1st class splurge trip. Costco messed up one of our flights ( not in 1st class). The hotel in Paris was supposed to he 4 stars and have air conditioning, place was a dirty dump and air conditioner did not work. We were in Paris during the heat wave and the hotel brought us a fan, what a joke. We complained to Costco about the hotel and sent photos of the filthy room. Costco said there was really nothing that they could do. People do your homework and book your own travel. Costco was not there to help us when we needed them the most.

4 1/2 hours on the phone trying to make a simple change...and still waiting
I called to make a simple change to a family vacation. I had booked 5 of us for an 8-day Hawaii trip. 60+ days out, I called to remove one traveler as my son had a conflict the week we had scheduled. It has been over 4 1/2 hours that I have been trying to get our trip updated. 3 different CSRs (as each one continues to "time out"). Still no resolution. They also will not let me hang up the line and call me back as "we need to keep the line active." Unbelievable.
