Buyer beware. Contact Lens King has found a new and creative way to be shady in its pricing practices: price discrimination. Contact Lens King charges different prices based on how you access the site. Search for lenses on your search engine of choice, and CLK displays a nice low price to get their site at the top of the search results. BUT, go straight to the site (say, by typing it into your browser or using a bookmark), and you can expect to pay double. Literally, double. To add to the creepiness, CLK uses some kind of browser tracking to make sure the prices appear consistent TO YOU. If you clear your history, the prices magically go back up. The only way to get the decent prices back is to go back through the search engine and access the site that way. So, practically speaking, regardless of how many good experiences you may have had with CLK, you need to 1.) never bookmark their website, and 2.) never go straight to them just because you've had positive experiences with them in the past. To do either would be an expensive mistake. (Side note to the business school dropout who thought up this scheme in the first place: Way to think ahead and build brand loyalty.) Bigger picture though: thanks Contact Lens King for making what should be a simple online purchasing experience an exercise in frustration, confusion, and unfairness. You've made the world a little bit worse.
