I would have given zero stars but the site won’t allow it. BEWARE OF DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. They will entice you with a l reasonable offer for one year but include in FINE PRINT that the subscription automatically renews at a much higher price unless you formally opt out. I called customer service after receiving my credit card statement and seeing two much higher subscription prices. When I called I was told by a supervisor that because I hadn’t called within seven days of their billing that they refused to refund and money. They used to warn their subscribers about other companies using this type of scam, but now this appears to be their business model. Once again beware, I’m extremely disappointed with this company that used to have integrity. Charles Falesch
Response from Consumer ReportsSep 23, 2026
We’re sorry for the frustration and disappointment this experience caused. Consumer Reports memberships renew automatically, as is standard with many subscription services. This is disclosed at enrollment, and we send a renewal reminder about 30 days before renewal to the email address on file to ensure our members have the opportunity to choose whether they want to continue their membership. Our policy provides a refund within seven days of renewal, less a $10 fee for the first month of access. Although this request fell outside that window, we made an exception by canceling the membership to prevent future charges and issuing a $35 refund. Membership fees support Consumer Reports’ independent nonprofit mission. We spend more than $33 million annually purchasing and rigorously testing products at retail, and we do not accept advertising, free samples, or payment from manufacturers in exchange for ratings or reviews.
