I've always thought those who explore the IVF process to try for a baby were exceptionally brave. Now I know from personal experience that it’s not about being brave, it’s about wanting a baby so much that you are willing to undergo any emotional and physical pain to give yourself that chance. After three years of different doctors, several failed intrauterine inseminations (IUI), numerous testing, and nutritionists; we finally committed to in-vitro fertilization (IVF). We started the IVF program in the early spring. I was extremely fearful of not only the cost, but the unknown, no guarantees, ashamed, the why's, and being alone. I turned to IVF success stories and met couples that were in the same situation. In May I pulled myself away from home for a while to be closer to our Conceptions doctor on the Front Range for every day monitoring and blood work. After completing the egg retrieval, I was able to return home and let my body go back to normal. After couple weeks, we found out we had three healthy embryos that came back from testing with A ratings! July I started back up with more injections, preparing my body for the FET (frozen embryo transfer). Middle of August was the big day we had been working so hard to get too, embryo transfer day! Exactly ten days after transfer we heard those words we have been working so hard on for almost four years, PREGNANT! I think that was one of our best days! This year has given me a lot of highs and lows, but I think what I have experienced has made me grow up. My relationship with Darwin is so much more closer than what it has ever been. I have cried on his shoulder countless times feeling I can't go on anymore, I wanted to stop. Darwin stayed strong and pushed me. When you come by things the hard way, well you learn how to hold on tight. I have learned there is always going be an uphill battle in life, but it's the climb you take to get there. Everyday I wake up I'm extremely thankful for where we are today and what we have to look forward to in the near future. There are people out there who have tougher situations and are trying to survive everyday! Conceptions was a wonderful team to work with. I went through IVF for the first time and every question that I had was answered quickly and thoroughly even though my nerves sometimes got the best of me through the process. They made me feel at ease and Dr. Green was fabulous with incredible bedside manner along with their entire team of nurses, sonographers, technicians and office staff. After many blood draws, injections, and appointments, I am thrilled to say we were successful on our first attempt and are now expecting our first come October 2018!

I will finish my consult and then decide if I can support going back to this place. I cringe thinking about having to complete sensitive fertility procedures with the doctor that I met with. -The reception area is completely exposed and my financial business/tests were announced aloud. The receptionist was not clear on explaining the benefits, as this was a referral from my primary insurance. A number of the receptionists were completely unprofessional laughing and talking about what they were doing that weekend, the race they ran, the unpaid balance on that lady’s bill, etc. - I was asked THREE times if my husband was coming. “Ohhh he isn’t coming?” Yes, I have a husband and I imagine these comments would be quite sensitive if someone does not have a partner. -Doctor O’Shaunessey was 15 minutes late for my appt and was unapologetic. It also seemed like I was an inconvenient part of her work day. Seriously! -She did not shake my hand -She rarely looked me in the eye and instead focused on the computer screen with my previous test results. I truly believe this was her first time looking over my file. - She literally just read through my previous levels/ results and told me that I will probably need to take vitamin D. No real conversation about my goals, my concerns, my reservations. -When I asked a question regarding the stats of not being pregnant yet, she stated “You SHOULD have been pregnant by now.” Cold and blunt. No empathy. No bedside manner. -She made it difficult to ask questions because the actual consultation had no substance or depth to it. It was clear that she wouldn’t offer real advice or a meaningful conversation until other bloodwork and tests are done. I do wonder how other patient’s experiences with Dr. O’Shaunessey felt. I hope she is a miracle fertility resource that helps families, because her negative/pompous demeanor very much overshadowed whatever credentials and abilities she may possess.

My initial visit with Conceptions was great. Everyone from the front office staff, nurses, ultrasonographer, to the physician were extremely professional. I had all of my questions answered and felt listened to. I’m excited to continue working with them.

Every person in the office made me feel welcomed and important. I have been through an emotional rollercoaster and this office gave me hope. Thank you for doing what you do everyday to influence the lives of others.

Conceptions is very professional. The doctor even remembered that I was a football fan and of what team! They have the whole IVF process pretty dialed in. They are quick with appointments, blood draws and scans; very understanding that we have other priorities in life as well as IVF. The only reason I didn't provide 5 stars is that sometimes the nurses seems annoyed with questions and I was told that they "only treat ovaries" and not the whole patient so I was pushed off to my General Doctor for what seemed like some troubling side effects from the IVF medications. All did turn out fine so in the end they were right.
