I’d pretty much given up
I’d pretty much given up, finally resigned myself to a reality that I would always be fat and probably die early. At 65, I'd stopped dreaming and making plans for my future. A muscular short girl, I’d tried every diet since 1980, applying persistence and dedication. Oh sure, I’d lose some, but then I’d gain it all back and more. I was obsessively athletic when younger, a gymnast, bicyclist, backpacker, walker, but I was always overweight according to the scale. The weight crept up dramatically to 238 through the chronically high stress of teaching for 38 years. I felt defeated and depressed as doctors and family kept telling me I just wasn’t working hard enough or was eating too much, when I ate less than everyone I knew. I thought I’d done everything right, did everything I’d learned in the 60’s and 70’s on nutrition and exercise. Then six months ago I stumbled on Committed Coaches. To say this changed my life dramatically is the understatement of a lifetime. What I’d learned is that all the nutrition science now is very different from what I’d learned when young. Through this program, I learned how to eat the right foods at the right time in the right amounts. The coaches have been incredibly supportive, and really do care about helping me. There is a whole stable of coaches with different expertises, who provide training through coaching calls, which has been invaluable! I cannot say enough praise about my personal coach Glen, who has walked closely with me, analyzing my meals and activity, helping me adjust them to my own medical and physical needs, and encouraging me patiently every single step of the way. You can tell the coaches are friends and talk to one another about how to best help each of us, and the help offered gets more comprehensive. The weekly Zoom coaching calls and online threads allow us to encourage and support each other as well, not just about skills, but about mindset. Through working with Committed Coaches in just six months, following the plan, I lost 61.5 lbs., and my fasting blood sugar levels dropped from 298 to 80 (A1C 10.5 to 4.7), blood pressure dropped from hypertensive to optimal, my resting heart rate from 82 to 58, and I don’t experience the digestive difficulties at all, which used to plague me daily. My sleep is so much better, asthma controlled, and I am MUCH more energetic. The best part is that I feel hopeful for the first time in decades, like I have a future again! I hike with my husband and spend time together being athletic. We dream together and make plans for the future again, which is strengthening our marriage. My new positive outlook on life and love of myself is allowing me to spend more time with others too. My husband is so impressed with me! I’m learning how to use the weight machines again, working out three times a week, and I feel strong and am losing even more as I build muscle. I still have 40 more pounds to go, but I have no doubt that I will get there. Now there's a mindset change!! My new habits are becoming ingrained into a lifestyle for longevity now, not just to lose weight, but to feel healthy, flexible, strong and alert. I’ve learned to listen to my body, give myself grace and love myself again. I owe this all to the phenomenal, intelligent and compassionate personalized coaching of the staff at Committed Coaches! They literally saved my life. Joining them was truly the best thing I have ever done for myself in life!

Your story is incredibly powerful, and the level of change you’ve achieved in just six months is remarkable — from 61+ lbs lost to major improvements in blood sugar, blood pressure, heart rate, sleep, energy, and overall quality of life. More than the numbers, it’s meaningful to hear how your mindset, hope, and sense of the future have shifted so profoundly, especially after so many years of frustration and discouragement. We’re especially grateful that Coach Glen and the broader coaching team have been able to support you in a way that felt personal, attentive, and aligned with your medical and lifestyle needs. It’s inspiring to see you rebuilding strength, confidence, and joy in movement and in life again. Thank you for sharing such a deeply meaningful experience.
