Karen Kimball -- Unqualified Recommendation!!
We have two daughters. For both, we engaged Collegewise, and for both, we had exceptional experiences with Karen Kimball, though in very different ways. Karen was not the initial counselor for our first daughter – she was brought in to pinch hit and right the ship. She did such a good job that we requested her for our second daughter. As the sole counselor for our younger, quite cerebral 17-year-old, Karen was fantastic. For her, motivation was not necessarily the challenge – Karen needed to pry open our daughter … to get her to ‘sell herself’ and effectively ‘blow her own horn.’ The connection flourished and our introspective daughter put her reservations aside, and with Karen’s oversight, produced wonderfully rich personal statements and supplemental essays that really showcased herself for the first time. As our children are quite different – extroverted / introverted -- the fit of the counselor was always one of our most important concerns. Indeed, we very much believed that it would take two different types of individuals to be successful with our girls. Ironically, Karen was able to work seamlessly with both. Karen has a wonderful combination of knowledge, coolness, intelligence, and humor that not only connects with teenagers but truly motivates them. Whether it was helping our older one organize and inspire or to strike the right chord with our younger one, Karen’s ability to read each accurately was exactly what we hoped Collegewise would provide. Throughout both interactions, Karen kept us updated on progress against key milestones but balanced that skillfully with our daughter’s inherent desire to control the process and maintain a degree of independence. We absolutely recommend Karen without any reservations or concerns!
