It works surprisingly well

Not at all worth the money I spent. I live in Medellin, Colombia and sometimes need a translation of voice messages from various people, including my Colombian girlfriend. I speak Spanish fairly well (high intermediate level) and generally can communicate well. With a lot of the audio messages I get, especially from my girlfriend, it is inaccurate and has words missing, sometimes affecting the meaning of the message. I almost always need to send the message to a friend who is a native Colombian and Spanish Professor to translate it. This happens almost every time I try to use it, no matter who the speaker is. I should mention this is for voice translation to a transcript. I decided to update this post. I thought I could just convert a voice message in Spanish into English directly. That has not worked. However, I just did lit two steps, the first a transcription in English and the second a translation of the Spanish text output into English using Google Translate and that seems to work.

Not up to professional standard. I perform building inspections for a living and record my observations on audio whilst I conduct each inspection for later transcribing and putting into my reports. I persevered with Cockatoo for around 10 months before abandoning it because in almost every transcript, it would just randomly not include around 10 - 15% of the audio content. Checking the transcript would not easily identify any error because it occurred sporadically through a transcript. This caused problems with my business. When I became aware that this was happening, the time it took me to go back through my audio and identify the missing pieces, I could have typed my report from scratch. I wish I kept on top of my auto renew, and should have cancelled earlier. My subscription just renewed for around $85 more (plus currency conversion fee) than I paid last year. I now use Microsoft Word, which is free and much, much more accurate.

The transcript was good, although as it was a conversation with background noise it needed editing and checking, but saved a huge amount of time transcribing an hour long conversation. I made a mistake with the subscription but the company was really helpful sorting it out and no pressure to keep subscription.

I chose Cockatoo after trying various similar services and have been using it for the past year to caption videos and to write minutes of council meetings. It is accurate in transcription, even with the Italian language, and it is able to operate without errors even during meetings with many different speakers. Cockatoo is super easy to use and it is also fast: what more could you want? What I think of the support service: excellent, fast and competent. I highly suggest Cockatoo.
