We needed some closets build in our garage so we hired someone from Closet by design company. Someone came out to our house to take the measurements and post gave us a date on July 18, 2024. It was supposed to be two day job. It took over 6 weeks and we are still not done. Today is August 26th and I am being told they will give another date to come finish up the job, which is frustrating because it feels like i am working around their schedule. They charged my CC the full balance even though the job is not done. The guy name is Eddie, charged me full payment without finishing up the job. He is not reasonable to talk to. He is rude, and had no manners or care to please the customers. Every time I brought up any issue with closets, he would refer it back to the contract, the same contract also says, "last payment upon job completion". I would not recommend Closet by design to anyone. I just want my money back if they are not planning to finish up the job. There are few things missing. The left side of my closet are held by one tiny little anchor. It is not secured properly. I have two little kids in the house and it doesn't feel safe. There is a drawer that is sitting still on the floor and missing few hinges. And door handles are not on. I have been using closets without door handles.

Buyer beware!! I have used this company before and was completely satisfied. We moved to Florida and needed our closet done. Since I used them before I didn’t think to call anyone else. The designer came and measured. We thought the price was too high. She reduced the price. The problem was that she lied and when the installer came he had a much smaller shelf width. Unfortunately I signed off on a design that was not what we were told we were getting, I take responsibility for trusting her word. I never received the final paperwork for the closet design so I didn’t know that the sizes were different. This woman was a lying snake for her commission. I’m now stuck with a closet that doesn’t have the space I need. The manager was a complete jerk and just wanted to explain away the company position. I was told if I wanted what I was told I would get I would have to pay for the existing closet and start over. I have never felt so disgusted, nor have I ever been so lied to. I will make sure I let people know not to use this disreputable company!!! There is much more yo this story but my stomach and heart can’t take any thing further. If I could give them a zero I would.

I called to cancel our order because it just wasn't going to work for us. We realized that we could not easily remove the built in desk that had to be removed to install the original design. It took three days to get the answer from a handyman! They refused to refund our depot fully and charged us $530.00 because we were 12 hours past their time. Twelve hours! Should really be a ZERO!!!

If I could give zero, I would. The Cape Coral location in Florida is run by a slime bag. They designed the closet to maximize their profit without design considerations. They have NOT completed the project (4 closets total) but placed unauthorized charges on my credit card. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE HORRIBLE

I ordered this Murphy bed with the hopes my home would be ready for move-in. I had to reschedule twice since it was not ready on our end to be installed. I gave plenty of notice each time. The second time they were insistaqnt that I should just have it put in. I was in the middle of a meeting when I took the call and the girl was so persistent I gave in. Come the day of we had to stop all work at property including the team that had just arrived. I totally understanding charging a trip fee but to tell someone that we need to pay 20% install fee on $6k job is ridiculous. I have now cancelled entire order and I realize I have lost actually 50% of my money but honestly I don't want these people anywhere near my home. I would never recommend this company and should have just gone through Costco. Sad people take advantage of situations. Certainly no care for the customer.

Install date: March 23rd, 2024. One main bedroom walk-in closet. One office walk-in closet. One basic home entryway coat closet. Two installers. Total time spent/man-hours/labor for install = 7 hours. Cost: $12,991.00. Value: $0.00. Materials are cheap pressed partical board (think sawdust) covered in synthetic laminate material. Overall, the shelving material is absolute junk. DO NOT ALLOW THIS COMPANY TO PERFORM YOUR SHELVING REMOVAL! THEY WILL DESTROY YOUR WALLS! Read your contract very very carefully. I am letting everyone in my hometown of Rockford, Illinois know how this place does business. Despicable! Yep, I know, partly my own fault for not doing my own shelving removal, but if I could post the pictures here on this site for you to see....lol....I mean ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS! This company is a joke. Once they get your money its GAME OVER! Buyer beware. Don't forget, read your contract or better yet, take your hard earned money somewhere/anywhere else! You have been warned. (Before Closets by Design says my name is not in their books, ask their sales manager Colleen, about the install done in Rockford on the above mentioned date. She never returned our calls after the installer destroyed our walls. The best response I got from Ryan, the manager out of the Bartlet, Illinois office was "good luck buddy", after I got nowhere with him. I am not on their books because my partner used her name on the contract and paid the bill under her name. I paid for half of this crap job, so I felt compelled to shine a light on this travesty of a so called business. Thanks for wrecking the walls in our new home's office closet you rip-off, poor excuses for a contractor's business.)

I paid 2250 for my master bedroom closet to be done by Closet by Design. I got nothing that was in the pamphlet. My 6-year-old grandson would have done a better job. My closets are open with nothing in the back, as the pamphlet shows all the closets with backing. This closet is hideous, and I will never tell anyone to go to closets by design. I reached out to the sales rep, and her response was to call the company. CLOSETS BY DESIGN ARE GARBAGE, AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE THAT I KNOW THAT THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!!!!! I thought I was getting my dream closet but instead, I got particle board covered with laminate that you can buy at any Walmart and the shelving is the same material GARBAGE

I was very disappointed with closets by design and with the person who sold me the sliding door Mr Nazare. I ordered a wood sliding door with dark color that matches my room. I was straight forward with my wish. Not only it took a long time to arrive but also the sliding door came with a sort of plastic, white color with a metallic design in the middle. The sliding door looked awful and I was shocked. The seller never showed me any picture how my sliding door would look like and he lied on the phone in front of his manager to save himself. He even lied more by stating that he talked to me about the metallic in the middle of the closet. Only lies and lies. Shame on him. He never mentioned anything of that sort otherwise I would have told him not to order the sliding door and would have ordered from another company. The sliding door was returned to rectify the color and to please me by adding kind of wood dark sticker on the kind of plastic door for 1600 US dollars. I was under shock and on the top of it I was told it is not refundable. Closets by Design is not a recommended company. Not client oriented and liars. Their only concern is to take your money and sell you cheap stuff. Be very careful when you deal with them. Something for sure, I will never never buy anything from them anymore.
