Bait and switch garbage. "Hey, thanks for signing up for our free plan. Oops...all the good stuff--not free anymore. Suckah!" This software is lame anyway, unintuitive and pooly designed. You can do better.

Data all gone - no prior warning
Have been a Clockify free user for many years. Gone to run reports today and all my saved reports, project % have gone and no value on reports. Meaning links I sent out on invoices just a few days ago don't exist. No email or warning for this at all. And I have pay the Standard package for 2 people when there's only me to get my data back. Years and years of data lost - around 10 years. Just some warning would've helped.

To keep Clockify reliable, fast, and sustainable for the long term while still offering unlimited time tracking, we recently updated our Free plan.
An in-app notification detailing these changes was displayed a month ago to prepare our free users in advance for the changes.
It remained visible until the user acknowledged it to dismiss.
The billable rates & amounts are now available on any paid plan, while unlimited time tracking still remains on the free plan.
For any help with transition please contact us at [email protected] and we we be happy to help!

Removed key features from the free plan without notice and require a paid plan to get our data back
We had the free plan and were using the billable rates feature. Clockify changed their plans and made this feature along with several other features part of the paid plans. In doing so they removed our data so we can no longer access it unless we upgrade to one of the paid plans. No email notifications, no in-app notifications and customer support was not helpful
Response from Clockify (by CAKE.com)Jun 17, 2026
Hi Jason,
Thank you for the feedback and review, we completely understand that this is not an easy transition, and we can definitely recognize where you’re coming from.
After having reviewed our plans, due to the continuing development and an increased implementation of new features, we have decided to make these changes. Our main goal has always been to provide the best quality, and that’s something we don’t wish to compromise.
Regarding the communication, we provided an in-app notification one month in advance to inform users about these updates. However, we understand that important announcements can sometimes be missed, and we’ll continue working on improving how we communicate changes.
Rest assured that your data remains indefinitely, and the billable rates are still there once the permission setting is re-enabled on any of our paid plans.
Thank you again for your feedback and understanding.

Stripping basic features to force people to pay
Recent changes in plans have made clockify useless for freelancers. They took away the ability to track hourly rate and removed Excel and CSV exports. They also limited report histories to just one month. Instead of adding more value to their paid tiers, they decided that it's easier to force upgrades by stripping basic features. Very disappointed.
Response from Clockify (by CAKE.com)May 19, 2026
We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We understand this isn't an easy transition, especially from the perspective of freelancers who relied on hourly rate tracking as part of their workflow.
As we continue improving the platform and investing in new features, we've found it necessary to align our Free plan more closely to current industry standards, and to ensure we can sustainably maintain the quality of experience for all users, while still continuing to offer unlimited time tracking.
While these updates are effective immediately for new users, we've also provided a grace period for already existing users to help them prepare for these changes and to give everyone enough time to review their current setup and decide what works best for their needs.
Thank you again for your input! You're always welcome to reach us at [email protected] if you have additional questions or concerns.

Not worth it. Save yourself the time.
I purchased for my team of 8 for a year with the annual plan and in a short amount of time, I found it did not integrate with Notion. Their version of integrate means you add a chrome extension but you manually have to create the task name, and it doesn't match with projects. It's very manual.
They shouldn't mention that it integrates with Notion, or at least make it clear they don't really talk to eachother.
I asked for a refund since it was such a short amount of time and less than a month, and they said no. So I just want to save you the frustation, and don't waste your time like I did.
Response from Clockify (by CAKE.com)Mar 18, 2026
Hello, thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re truly sorry to hear that the current Notion integration didn’t meet your team's specific workflow needs.
We understand the frustration regarding manual data entry. To clarify for other users, our current integration works via a browser extension to capture page titles; however, we understand the need for a deeper, more automated connection. We want to let you know that improvements to the Notion integration are currently in the works to allow for better synchronization between projects and tasks.
Regarding your subscription, while we were unable to issue a direct refund per our policy, we have offered to convert your full subscription amount into credit that will remain available for your future purchases.
This ensures your purchased amount is preserved and available for you to use whenever you're ready to scale your team or as our new integration features roll out.
We value your input and are committed to making our tools better for teams like yours. If you'd like to proceed with the credit option, please don't hesitate to reach back out to our support team at [email protected]!

Clockify charged me the wrong tax and…
Clockify charged me the wrong tax and the customer service is terrible refusing a refund of my purchase.
I emailed them 1 hour after the incident and they still refusing me to refund the amount.
I can recommend everyone to stay away from cake and Clockify.
Response from Clockify (by CAKE.com)Sep 11, 2025
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’ve carefully reviewed your case and would like to clarify why the VAT was charged.
When a subscription is purchased without a VAT number entered, the system automatically applies the standard VAT. Your VAT number was added after the payment was processed, and unfortunately, the system cannot adjust the changes retroactively. To be sure that everything was handled correctly, our development team reviewed the logs and confirmed that this was the case.
Our standard practice is to offer a credit in cases such as these, but we wanted to make an exception and offer to refund the VAT amount in full. We were therefore surprised that the partial refund was declined, and we would welcome the opportunity to better understand your concerns.
While we cannot provide a full refund for a valid subscription purchase, we have been transparent in our approach and ensured the appropriate tax refund was offered.
We are sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Clockify, but we value hearing your perspective, as our aim is to resolve situations fairly and ensure a positive experience.

Not suitable for professional use – essential features missing
I bought an annual subscription, expecting a professional solution for time tracking, including overtime management. Unfortunately, the tool lacks core functionality that should be standard in a product of this category and price range.
Main issue:
There is no period-based overtime tracking — meaning no automatic overtime balance for a week, a month, or any customizable period. You only get daily differences, which is not useful in a business context.
While this specific feature wasn’t explicitly advertised on a "customizable period", it’s a standard expectation for any time tracking tool intended for commercial use.
The only way to obtain meaningful figures is by exporting data manually to Excel or CSV and then calculating overtime manually or through scripts — not a viable workflow for ongoing operations.
Support experience:
The support team was polite, but ultimately not effective.
A refund was denied due to “system limitations,” even though I requested it shortly after purchase and clearly explained that the product does not meet our needs.
Instead, I was offered credit toward a future purchase — which is unhelpful once you've already determined (and explained) the product is not fit for purpose.
To be fair, support did point out the trial period and confirmed that they forwarded the requested feature to the product team. However, let’s be honest: I wasn’t looking for a glorified tool to test — I needed a functional solution with basic, expected features. Why trial something that only needs absolutely fundamental capabilities?
Also, I seriously doubt I’m the first person to request this feature, which raises concerns about how feedback is actually handled by their product development team.
I appreciate the respectful communication throughout, but a truly customer-oriented and fair resolution was lacking. For businesses that need structured overtime management (which is nearly every business), I cannot recommend Clockify in its current state.

Hello Sacha,
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. I truly understand your concerns, especially when it comes to something as critical as overtime tracking for business operations.
Please note that we did forward your request to the product team, but as with everything, what gets implemented depends on the overall demand and whether it fits well with our other features.
Regarding your refund request, I understand where you're coming from. We do offer a free trial and the option for a demo with the sales team, mainly to give people a chance to explore everything before upgrading, but I understand that sometimes the limitations only become obvious once you start using it in a real-world setting. It's unfortunate we couldn't offer a better resolution in your case, and I genuinely wish we could've made it work.
I really appreciate how clearly you laid everything out. Even if it fell short of your expectations, your feedback matters, and your vote for this feature is on the board.
Please note that you can still use all the extra features until the end of the current billing period.
If you need any further assistance or have any questions, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We'd be happy to assist you further!
All the best!

AVOID AVOID AVOID! at all COST!
AVOID AVOID AVOID!
Admin account is counted as 1 seat, and they didn't display that in the plans, so when you purchase a plan/seat for your employee, you actually didn't purchase anything because you need to buy one more seat for your employee.
When I asked for a refund because I didn't even use their platform I purchased it 5 minutes ago...Alex from support told me that they are not providing refunds and that I accepted that in terms of policy.
But the real question is, why can't they give a refund? Will they lose something?
The answer is NO!
They played this smartly because a lot of people will be scammed like this!
Its better to pay 20$ (FOR 2 SEATS, admin not counted as 1) on Hubstaff or some other platform, and you will get much better service and features.
AVOID THEM!

Hello Milos,
Thank you for taking the time to leave an honest review and feedback on your experience with Clockify.
I'm sorry to hear that you were unsatisfied with the app and our support throughout this process. I would like to take this opportunity to note that we are transparent about our pricing and the 'no refund' policy, which is mentioned during the sign-up process and on our pricing page in an effort to avoid miscommunication and dissatisfaction from the clients.
Our subscription model is seat-based, meaning that each active user in the workspace requires one regardless of the role assigned.
Once the refund request does arise from one of our customers, each case is carefully reviewed, and the decision is made depending on the given circumstances.
Given that this process takes a while, we sincerely apologize for the delay in the response; however, we hope that this experience won't prevent you from continuing to use Clockify again in the future.
If you have not yet received the refunded amount, please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance at [email protected].
