I told them I want my money putting back in to my account to only get 25 pound back or I think that's what's going back in. please keep a wide berth from these guys use UKGOV it only costs 18 pound.

Hi Darren, there may be a mix-up between businesses, given your reference to a UK website. ClearChecks.com now operates as BackgroundChecks.com, a US-based background screening company owned by HireRight. Our website is https://www.backgroundchecks.com. Please check the business website on your order confirmation. If your purchase was with a separate UK company, consider updating or relocating your review to its corresponding profile so your feedback reaches the business involved.

Scammers
Scammers. They took over £100 from me for a CRB document and for someone to verify these over the phone They never actually called the referee and never sent me a CRB. Then they started taking £8 a month from me and stated I have signed up for their ridiculous iCloud service which offers absolutely NOTHING! I wish I’d read the reviews first. Absolute fraud, why are they allowed to operate and advertise over Google?!!
Response from BackgroundChecks.com (fka ClearChecks)Oct 20, 2026
Hi Elizabeth, we would like to clarify a possible business mix-up involving the payments in pounds you describe and the recurring charges you mention. ClearChecks.com now operates as BackgroundChecks.com, a US-based background screening company owned by HireRight. Our website is https://www.backgroundchecks.com. Could you check which business website appears on your order confirmation? If it belongs to a separate UK company, please consider updating this review or posting your feedback on that company’s profile.

Do not use this service
Do not use this service. I have 20 employees and I ran a background check on myself just to see if this company is accurate. It did not pull up any records with my actual name and had a misspelled version of my name with general information about what county I'm in. I would think I had issues with ID theft if I didn't monitor my credit so closely and have ID theft monitoring. When I complained and asked them to run it again, they said to contact the credit bureau. I have viewed copies of credit reports as early as last week with no issues noted. I will not use this service anymore.
Response from BackgroundChecks.com (fka ClearChecks)Oct 20, 2026
Hello Givona, thank you for sharing your concerns about the name variation and information in your report. Applicants can have different names or aliases associated with them in various databases. We draw on those sources to help identify associated names and support comprehensive screening, but a name variation does not by itself establish that information belongs to the applicant. All records we report are manually reviewed before release. Customers and applicants can also use our automated adverse-event and dispute processes free of charge to raise concerns and seek corrections. Please contact our customer support team so we can review the name discrepancy and report with you and work toward a resolution.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Background check failed to provide county records, state records and felony records. I ended up hiring a felon who was just released from prison becaue of this website.
Response from BackgroundChecks.com (fka ClearChecks)Oct 20, 2026
Hello, thank you for raising your concerns about records you expected the background check to identify. We understand how important report accuracy and search coverage are. Applicants may have different names or aliases associated with them, so we draw from various databases to help identify those names and support comprehensive screening. All records we report are manually reviewed before release; that review does not by itself establish that every possible record has been located. Please contact our customer support team so we can review the search scope and the missing-record concern. Our automated adverse-event and dispute processes are available to customers and applicants free of charge to raise report concerns and seek corrections.

Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs, this is a SCAM. I paid for the fast track service and received NOTHING. These thieving scammers even try to set up a direct debit to scam more money out of you. You can’t email or call them and they NEVER call you back. I’ve had to cancel my credit card and my credit card issuer has placed this company on their own scam list and are reporting them to trading standards and the police. AVOID !!!
Response from BackgroundChecks.com (fka ClearChecks)Oct 20, 2026
Hi Jerry, the fast-track application, direct debit and Trading Standards references suggest there may be a mix-up with a separate UK business.
