I have been a customer for many years but never applied for their Choice Privileges Master Card (Wells Fargo). There was a advertisement incentive to apply for the card to get $100 back while I was doing the current reservation.
That did not happen. I finally got the email confirmation 3 days later after I called them. The card would not arrive via mail before my weekend stay so I won't get credit for the stay because I won't have the CC to use it during check in.
The suggested advertisement seemed to make you think you was going to get the $100 credit on the current reservation you are making.
I reserved the room with another CC and called them to try to get the CC information so I can use it when I check in but they couldn't provide that on the phone call.

Misrepresentation online was the beginning..
Room ‘details’ were false on the website, (full kitchen, coffee machine NOT) My query, emailed when I saw this, went unanswered. Reception was not open at 2pm. Door opened late for me to be told the gate to car park would not open, and I would be called when it was fixed. I sat in my car and waited. I was called as advised. Checked in finally. Ordered room service later but reception staff could not answer my question re the menu. Dinner arrived rather ordinary compared to previous stay. Checking out? Not staffed as advertised. Very confused (outdated?) instructions on wall ((pick up the phone - no phone there) I wanted to pay personally for dinner and room bar and receive receipt but had no option but to leave. I had told the reception staff I would do this and was not informed that I could not. This is not how the hotel was originally. The room is obviously deteriorating as are managerial services. Great location poorly managed now.

I’m a bit late writing this review but…
I’m a bit late writing this review but felt it needed to be said. We have used choice hotels many times and had some great holidays but on visiting the patterdale hotel in the Lake District a few weeks ago the experience wasn’t so great. On our first night we were a few minutes early for our evening meal and on entering the dining room we waited to be seated. A young ma came to us a pointed to a table and we took a seat thinking it was the one that he had pointed (although we thought it a bit stain he that the table needed setting) then a lady came to us a gave us a good telling off saying that we should have waited to be seated so explained that we had been. Then the young man came across any told us off (quite loudly by the way) for sitting in the wrong place (we apologised and even said well we consider ourselves well and truly told off for this mistake and won’t make it again) it was only the morning after when we were sat further into the dining room that we could actually see this table which obscured by a wall style pillar and could not be seen by us from the entrance to the dining room where we were stood on our fort evening so unless you know it’s there you wouldn’t know it was. On top of that we found it a bit concerning that they had a table also blocking the fire exit so before you go shouting at your customers who get it wrong get your priorities write please

Awful customer service
I had been staying at Choice Hotels for business and had run into several terrific desk clerks and usually the rooms are clean. But two recent horrible experiences have put me off this miserable chain forever. The last one involved their acceptance of Mastercard gift cards at some locations but not all. Their customer service is outsourced and the manager I spoke to didn't even know what a Mastercard gift card was. The desk clerk was rude, I filed complaints with the NC AG and the BBB and their response lacked any concern that a guest was inconvenienced. I never expected a free room but I was hoping for a sign that they were sorry for my experience. Their replies contained zero empathy, as did their customer service manager that night. It is a terrible company that treats travelers like numbers and not people.

Choice Hotels for Huntsville Texas
We just completed a Trip to Texas and used Choice Hotels for Our stay at the Quality Suites in Huntsville Texas. This Hotel was not as advertised. The Pool did not exist (was there but looked as if had not been used in years) Breakfast was gone by 7am and when we went to the dining area there was only 3 people there but the breakfast was gone. The room had taped on room numbers, air conditioner leaked in the room. When I did a review through Choice Hotels to date the only response I received was Quote "Dear Frank,
Thank you for taking the time to complete our online survey regarding your recent stay at our hotel.
On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for failing to exceed your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you provided to make improvements to ensure we offer an exceptional experience for our guests in the future.
I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.
Sincerely,
Ciara Arcilla

How generic can you get. Nothing from Choice Hotels. Stay away from this Hotel and still on the fence on whether to use Choice Hotel Services.

They lost me...
This one is a long time coming. I was a customer of the hotel chain for the past few years. So needless to say, it's taken more then a handful of bad experiences to get me to this point.
If you can do not stay at any of the locations. Yes some are decent. But for the most part the properties are unkept / ran down and quite often are located in areas that just are not safe.
In the past 3 years, I have stayed at locations in, CA, UT, AZ, OR, NC. I'm field service technician and I get around. Choice Hotels was my go to as my coworker turned me on to them during my training period and I liked the rewards program.
Since then I have experienced, finding spiders that had body's as large as my thumb (3 in one room), Had rooms that smelt like mold, carpet so dirty I had to clean my feet before getting into bed, dried liquid stuff on the microwave door, broken furniture, bad water pressure or no hot water at all. Windows that don't lock, doors that look like they were kicked in at some point, I got destroyed by some bedbugs at one spot in AZ and the location I stayed at in Eureka CA was in such a bad area once I checked in I didn't leave my room (not even for dinner) and had someone knocking on my door in the middle of the night. I had some homeless people set up camp outside of my window then proceed to get in a massive fight shortly after. I'm not kidding several of the locations look good online but once you get there it's a completely different story.
Again DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL CHAIN.
I have complete control where I stay when I'm in the field, my company doesn't care. I showed management the picture collection I have from the locations and they all but told me not to bother with Choice anymore and have expressed that to the rest of the service team.
This last weekend I was in AZ and stayed at a double tree. The experience was so night and day, the room was amazing, the grounds were well kept, EVERYTHING was on point. Sadly I can't say that about any of the Choice Hotel locations I have stayed at.
They lost me, there is no reason to give them a second chance and the free gift cards just do not make up for what I have to experience to get them.
AGAIN DO NOT STAY WITH THEM! IT IS NOT WORTH IT!

Choice Privileges Diamond member
This is more about the Choice Privileges program then about the hotel itself choice advertisers a program that they do not have the ability to enforce I checked into a room today and ask for a late check-out and you can see that the hotel is half empty and they refused the late check-out for a diamond member. This happens all most every time ."there are some Hotel members who appreciate the program and honor it but maybe only 5%" but this is one of the reasons that I have not used Choice over the last year or so unless I just have to. Choice advertises all of the benefits for their program and Diamond members and they will always tell you that it is up to the hotel so basically the hotels and choice benefits off advertising benefits that it has no ability to enforce and that its members have no intentions of honoring "kind of sounds like false advertising to me" as long as this continues choice will always stay number 4 in hotel rewards program and probably move down the price of the room as the price of the room and I understand that but don't falsely advertise and claim things to get people to stay more in your hotel chain when you have no intentions or the ability to enforce the program

Sneaky Practices on Low Price "Guarantee"
Was booking a hotel through Hotels.com, but thought I would look at the hotel's site directly, as sometimes it's cheaper. Choice Hotels' website says they offer a "Lowest Price Guarantee," but the price on Hotels.com was lower. So I booked on Choice Hotels' site & filled out the form to receive their Lowest Price Guarantee. They reached out to me the next day to say that they couldn't find the site I had given them to see the lower rate, & asked me to resubmit my request with the full url.
When I went back to their website to resubmit my claim, I saw that they had changed the rate on their website to match what I found on Hotels.com. However, I had saved a screenshot of the price I had found on Hotels.com, & also had my reservation, which was for the original (higher) price the day before.
I resubmitted the request, & received notice that they were "reviewing" my claim. Two days later, I still hadn't received any notice from them (though they were able to get back to me within one day for the first claim). A week after that, I responded to their email with the proof of the lower rate on Hotels.com versus what I'd agreed to via their website. It's now been over a month, & I still haven't heard anything from the chain.
It seems VERY underhanded to change the fare based on someone's claim, & then never reply back to said person, once they've resubmitted the claim.
I have since cancelled my reservation with them, & will do my best to not do business with this hotel chain again, or if I do, I will definitely book through someone else!
