Everytime I seal my fruit, such as grapes, blue berries, strawberrys, 5 or 6 days later, I notice they have a fermented taste. Why?
Response from ChefpreserveAug 14, 2026
That can happen with certain fruits, especially berries and grapes. They continue to release natural gases as they ripen, and vacuum sealing reduces the oxygen around them. In some cases, this can create an environment that causes the fruit’s flavor to change or develop a fermented taste.
For best results, we recommend using our glass containers for delicate fruits, adding a paper towel to absorb excess moisture, and freezing berries and grapes if you plan to store them for longer periods. It’s also best to start with fresh, dry fruit that isn’t already overripe.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate you sharing your experience with us!

First off I like my chef preserve BUT
First off I like my chef preserve. However the bags are extremely hard to close without using the white clip. So if you loose that the machine is useless for most women to use. If there is a way to order more clips I would love to order some. Ty. V Turk

Thank you for sharing your feedback!
We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying your Chef Preserve. The white sealing clips are included with every 10-pack of bags, so if you need additional ones, they are available with our bag packs.
A helpful tip when closing the bags is to place the zipper on a hard, flat surface like a countertop or table and use the included clip to guide it across. You can also gently run a butter knife along the zipper area to help press it closed evenly.
If you ever need assistance, our team is always happy to help!

Great bags. Just ok glass containers
I love the bags ! But the glass containers are MUCH smaller than I would have thought for that kind of $. And the smallest container doesn’t seal at all. I don’t know whether the lid is damaged or what. So that one is a complete waste for me
Response from ChefpreserveJun 19, 2026
We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble with one of your containers, and we’re glad to hear you’re loving the bags!
For the container that isn’t sealing, please make sure the lid is firmly pressed on, then press down on the rubber valve to release excess air before placing the vacuum sealer over the valve.
If you’re still having trouble, we’d be happy to help. Please send us an email at [email protected] with your order details, and our team will look into it for you.

Pro's and Cons
I was expecting this product to extend the shelf life of everything from lettuce to meat.
Does my Chef's Preserve live up to all of demonstrations I saw on line? No.
However, the product does has saved me a considerable amount of money on specific food items.
Here are the specific food items that and pro's and con's that I have experienced:
Pro's:
1.) The small size and ease of use is a big plus.
the USB charging system works great
2.) Food items that i have found chefs preserve works very well include:
A. All kinds of cheese, but especially hard cheese. I love quality parmesan that I can grate as needed. being able to open the bag, grate what I need, close the bag and vacuum re-seal quickly is a huge benefit and my favorite thing about the device. I have used the same bag over and over!
B. Processed meat, such as cold cuts, bacon and sausage. Especially lunch meat, I've had turkey and ham remain fresh and for 3 weeks.
C. Nuts and sturdy snack such as pretzels, harder Cookies and Crackers.
B. Brown sugar and flour. I do use either very much. I emptied my brown sugar into a small bag and was pleasantly surprised to find it soft and ready to use 5 months later. The same applies to flour and sugar. The only down side is that the product has been removed from the store packaging first.
C. Pork Chops. Chicken. Buy both fresh, vacuum seal then freeze.
D. Frozen vegetables . Chefs preserve extends reduces freezer burn and helps to break big bags(cheaper) into serving size
Here are my Con's:
1.) My biggest con: I do not think the bags should be marketed as "Dishwasher safe" They begin to break down after one use and the seal is never the same. This point relates to re-using the same bag multiple time for item like hard cheese and nuts.
I have found that gently washing the bags with regular dish soap and hot water works better. The trick is to allow air to circulate into the bag while it dries.
the the dishwasher, the moist heat dry cycle does not work well with the bags
2.) Food items that do not work well:
A. Beef: Freezing fresh meat and then thawing makes a yucky mess. Don't do it.
Ok to vacuum seal to extend shelf life for about a week.
B. Any type of delicate e green fresh vegetables. Side by side, salad greens did not stay fresher in the vacuum sealed bags. I found the same to be true for broccoli, green beans and Brussel sprouts. Asparagus turned mushy very quickly.
C. Slightly better luck with harder vegetables such as peppers
D. The replacement bags, in my opinion are a bit pricy. I used all of the bags that are included in the first purchase, I am not sure if I will be purchasing more in the future,
E. I also need to mention that I have not tried the glass containers. I would like the option of purchasing 1 container. Buying the set of 3 for $50 when I already have quite a few Hard plastic and glass containers that work fine when I need them does not make sense. I'm trying to reduce - not add containers.
Summary:
Overall,

Dishwashers versus Chef Preserve’s bags, Second Try
I put two medium-sized bags in my dishwasher, on the bottom shelf, and ran a normal wash cycle. The bags came out crumpled, with dirty water caught in the folds and they would not deflate. The vacuum was not at fault because I tested it on an unused bag and it worked.
I tried again later and put two bags (small ones this time) on the dishwasher’s top shelf. The bags came out still containing some food residue but the valves were not damaged. I suggest using only the top shelf or just washing the bags by hand.

So far so good
So far so good. I purchased mine thru Amazon with a credit card. My credit card covers what I purchase using it and Amazon also covers what is purchased from them.
I can't find anything on the web site that lets me activate my 2 year warranty.

2 Non-working Vacuums
I purchased 2 of their vacuums and both went out during the holidays when needed the most. Their contact information is to a website that does not get a respond. I have sent 4-5 emails to help@ chefpreserve.com with no respond. When purchased I was told I had a 2 year warrant which should still be in effect since, I just purchased them last June. There's no customer service no phone number and no way of contacting them. I purchased 2 of these items as stated and I received 1. There's no one to speak with, only an email. I feel the items are great but, please fix the problem. Customer Service shouldn't be this complicated.
